I live in Texas, and our schools have already adopted this policy, and I think it really benefits the students on the band. Marching band takes just as much, if not more, discipline and practice than most sports. Approving this would really help the students in the band. At least, it does for us.

Marching band does just as much, if not more than the football team, bowling, swimming, etc. I don't not understand why we cannoy consifer it a sport. My school accepts it as gym credit as well.

As a mother who had 2 students go through high school band and One that is in college band I absolutely agree marching Band could/should be credited as a PE class. The students work as long or longer than some athletic teams.

As a fellow student who is in marching band, more specifically colorguard, I think it most certainly should count as a P.E. credit.

Marching band is both mentally and physically grueling. Especially marching hours on end on blacktop in the heat. I got more exercise in one week of marching band then I did the entire year of PE my freshman year.

Marching programs are loads of physical exertion, and should be treated as such. It makes you stronger, and helps you to take care of your body. All things that a standard gym class do anyway.
