Oh yeah one thing I forgot, Fadness has shown that he doesn't care about certain groups of people, and will go with what he feels is right, without listening to the people. Is that the kind of leader you want? Look, I don't care what Party he's apart of, he could be apart of the American Party of Parties for all I care, and I'd still be upset. I'd like to address some of the faults in this Petition. First off, Mayor Scott Fadness went behind the back of the ITM by reporting the "Chemical Leak", a blatant attack on the Museum, when he should've first spoken to them, seen if they were handling the issue, and made sure they take care of it. Also, the line isn't in THAT bad of condition. It's estimated that repairs will cost as much as $55,000. This would come from the line, and NOT taxpayers. Do you all want to pay for a 9.3 Million Dollar Conversion to a Trail? If you want the trail, fine, I don't hate trails. But why not cut the cost and put a trail in BESIDE the rail? That way, everyone's happy, and there's more options for everyone. I know Train Enthusiasts would FLOCK to have several chances to take photos safely and nearby to a Railroad line.

Why can't we have both? Many people have suggested we put a trail BESIDE the rail, creating the perfect balance between the two. There's one in Pennsylvania called the York Heritage Rail Trail, and here's a video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaLAInR9bQI This' one of those cases where we can have our cake, and eat it to. Not to mention it would make it really unique, and a larger tourist attraction for our state, bringing more tourists to Noblesville and Fishers.

This' becoming disgraceful. To the signers of this Petition I say this: Your leaders AREN'T listening to you! The leaders of Fishers and Noblesville have requested the Surface Transportation Board to IGNORE The public!! This plan is a MISTAKE, and here, dear scroller, is why. 1. The Mayors of Fishers and Noblesville have failed to show they've considered the public's opinion in this, and have instead been acting on what THEY think is right. 2. The conversion will cost 9.3 MILLION Dollars, and that doesn't include crossings either, which will likely DOUBLE the cost!! 3. The line can be repaired with $55,000, and that's NOT Tax Dollars either!! That money can and will come from tickets sold by people who ride on the line. 4. Why can't we have a trail and a rail? This will be more interesting than just a trail, or rail. Currently there's only Trails with Rails in The Eastern States, including the York Rail Trail in New York. Together they can be unique and a bigger tourist attraction. 5. There's already HUNDREDS of trails in Indiana, including the Monon Trail which is already close to the proposed one. This new trail will not stand out, and I know for a FACT that I'll stick with a trail closer to me. Most people WON'T drive several hours to ride on a trail, when they have one closer to them. 6. This' our history we're talking about here, why would we want to destroy it? Think about future generations, who will NEVER get a chance to ride to the fair, or share in a tradition with their grandparents. This plan won't help Noblesville and Fishers, it will hender it. #SavetheNickelPlate #SavedontPave

The trail is a fantastic idea that will be used by many! Our property is right next to the tracks, so it will be nice to not have to be worried about a train going through! Health, Wellness, and safety are the most important things! The train might have been a great thing a few years ago when the population was lower, but there are more houses that have been built right next to them that causes safety concerns! Lets do what's right to continue making fishers a safe and beautiful city and get that trail built!

Please remove the nickel plate rail tracks, and install multiuse path between 96th street and pleasant street. I'm a 30 year resident of Fishers and this is long overdue.

Your map shows continuing the MUP north of CP along Allisonville Road up to Noblesville. I would hardly call a path right along busy Allisonville Road as being "MUCH MORE scenic" than along the rail corridor.
However, I would also support Fishers and Noblesville building a MUP along Allisonville Road. We need more pedestrian/bicycle connectivity along ALL roads!

I am a concerned community member who strongly supports the plan to remove the Nickel Plate rail and to replace with the a walk/bike trail. As a resident of the Wellington North neighborhood, I am (safely) land locked when it comes to being able to accumulate mileage as a runner. I marathon train and run frequently north and south on the shoulder of Allisonville Rd/10th Street. And trust me, it feels no where near SAFE at times. But, at this time, I do realize that I am taking this certain risk upon myself, but there will come a time in when a decision will need to be made as to if this area is a good fit for my families active lifestyle. Being able to commute into TOWN from Wellington North via a walk/bike trail would be a great benefit for of the neighbors that I have spoken to of this particular plan. Thank you!

I believe the Monon is most responsible for the success of Carmel. My wife and I selected living in Carmel due to the trail. Many businesses chose to come to Carmel due to the bike/walk friendly nature of he city. It improve quality of life, both physically and emotionally. It promotes health and gives kids a healthy outlet. It also reduces carbon footprint. Don't let the "save the train" people ruin it for the majority.

Is there a reason the initiators of this petition did not use change.org? I'm curious, not criticizing. I searched change.org a few days ago and did not find one. Many people who are in favor of the paved trail might not know about this petition and might search change.org and conclude there's not a petition to combat the "save the train" petition.

It's actually possible to get both! Fishers has already received $1.3 Million in funding for another trail (also called the Nickel Plate) which will go from the Municipal Complex to Conner Prairie. This could EASILY be extended to Noblesville with very little land issues along a MUCH MORE scenic route. And best of all, everyone gets what they wanted. Check it out! https://goo.gl/8ppfQ5
