I think that more due diligence needs to be done. This seems like a bad move to make.

All USA taxpayers visit and enjoy National Parks, which are maintained with our Federal Tax money. All USA taxpayers visit and enjoy public beaches. Shouldn't the beach maintenance be funded in the same way? Instead of placing this need on the backs of the island community?

A small community cannot solely pay for beach nourishment when the beach is available to everyone. The major attraction to Brunswick County is the beaches yet they refuse to share in the cost or generating revenues to offset those cost. A town of less than 9,000 permanent residents cannot underwrite the cost of the sand that sadly be washed back to the sea. Nor can we afford an additional 6 million per year to maintain it.

The currently proposed solution is not acceptable, and is certainly far from fair and equitable to the homeowners oif Oak Island.

As a frequent visitor to OI, I say this action you are contemplating is disastrous. The rental rates owners undoubtedly will be forced to charge to cover their expenditure, will make unaffordable for many to visit there, which will hurt your economy, close businesses, force owners to sell their rental. You must seriously stop this action, reconsider and find a better solution to the problem. This is really bad publicity for OI.

There has to be a better way ! After all these years and the sewer is not paid for . This will be never ending. It is getting to expensive to live on the island .
