I support the pause!!!!! Our taxes, sewer and water is already extremely high! Need to figure it out without charging property taxes for the ones who live on the Island, which is all ready high! Increase rental fees which would help tax for the Beach Renourishment!

Enforce existing laws before making new...
Parking boats , trailers, mobile homes on town right of way? (West Yacht Dr, many street ends “look” private, cutting too May trees for construction (up the fines?)

We just moved here as permanent residents and think this assessment is not fair. The council should pause this assessment plan to take the needed time to find alternatives to help mitigate costs.

My wife and I will be closing in April on the purchase of a new home at OKI. It's very disappointing to read Mayor Ken Thomas state "Those who benefit the most should pay the most" suggesting that first and second row homeowners "benefit" the most. Excuse me sir, but who are you to declare who benefits the most? The beach is public and open to everyone! Anybody can "benefit" from its views, its breezes, and its waters regardless if they are an owner, a renter, or simply visiting for the day from nearby communities. All the local businesses "benefit" from the visitors who come to enjoy the beach regardless the location of the homes in which they stay. Who benefits the most from East/West Oak Island Drive? It's a public street. Should those who drive the most on Oak Island Drive pay the most for it's repair and resurfacing? There needs to be a more in-depth study and public involvement to find a reasonable funding solution for the beach.

NO new taxes for the beach. There will always be a beach a. It may not look the same as now and it doesn’t look like it did in 1978 when I got here. The current forecast is that Atlantic coast beaches are losing 7 to 14 foot each year. You can’t fight nature. We will pour millions into a losing endeavor and tax longtime residents into moving.

As a second row homeowner, I strongly object to the plan to place the burden of paying for the dune renourishment on first and second row homeowners. Surely you all can put your heads together and come up with a more equitable solution.

Enough with raising taxes with the stroke of the pen. Evaluate options. And genuinely pursue the paid parking option. Let’s tap the revenue all other beaches areas have available.

While we support the beach Re nourishment project, we demand an equitable allocation of the costs to all Town residents versus the highly skewed allocation scenarios that have been discussed and highlighted to date.
