Disgraceful. What if our veterans said they didn't have time to go and defend that flag. Wow!!

It really does not surprise me how some people feel that it is acceptable for a woman to lead a school and lead the staff and still feel that the flag is no big deal. That does not surprise me at all.

Perhaps the principal should see the war zone the veterans are fighting and what the AMERICAN FLAG represents. Her comment is a disgrace to all veterans.

Mrs. Sanders taught me 10th grade Honors English. An inspiring educator, she has a passion to engage and encourage students to grow as thinkers and ethical people. She's quick-witted, sardonic at times, but warm and sincere, too, and when I first heard she would become principal at PHS, I was happy to hear the news. I wasn't always the best student there, and I admittedly have a fraught relationship with my hometown, which I rarely visit, but I can confidently write that I learned to think at PHS. For instance, context matters. None of us, except David Miller and Mrs. Sanders, was party to the conversation that happened the other day, yet I read so many of you spewing vitriol and judging without any facts or evidence, besides hearsay. Yes, the flag, as evidenced by the picture, was in tatters, but as potent a symbol as it is -- not unreasonably -- the condition of this one particular flag isn't the sum total of Mrs. Sanders' existence nor of her record at PHS. If we want to follow the "logic" of many of your arguments, then prepare yourselves to be denounced for wearing any faded or stained T-shirts with any representation of the flag, bald eagle, or other patriotic emblems. If you have a bumper sticker proclaiming the glory of our country, yet it's stained with mud or filth, then your fidelity to this land and our troops could be construed as feeble or offensive. How dare you let the American bumper sticker remain besmirched on your truck! So next time you're getting dressed with your favorite 4th of July T-shirt -- colors faded, the collar ripping, pit stains vivid and fragrant -- beware: you might be branded an Obama-loving, Muslim-Communist hybrid. Fair warning.

I am where I am today thanks to Ms. Sanders, She told me once not to worry about what the future may come. I can do anything that I put work on. When I was down and vulnerable she had the best advice. Thanks to her I am realizing the great American Dream. Truly thankful for all the time she spends caring for the school community. Great Human Being.

Mrs. Wilson or Ms. Craduer or Ms. Sanders is a very very very rude evil old soul. From my past experience of being her student she is both hateful and should be fired from her job. She has ruined every high school tradition that there was. And now she has disrespected our American Veterans which is the last straw. No matter if she was busy or not she should have payed more attention. She as a principal should have recognized as she is one of many that recites the pledge daily, or at least she should. Rachel Wilson Craduer Sanders is not an ok human being.

My husband fought in world War 2 to defend this flag and our freedom. I think this is a disgrace

I grew up singing the pledge of allegiance every morning in school. It might have been mandatory, but our morales, our faith, our very way we think. We are raised by our teachers, our parents, our relatives/friends alike. America is a great place, built from our great melting pot society. It is our ignorance and not passing onto our future generations the same morales. These ideals we hold so dear in America, freedom itself. It is all being undone by this act, I am truly sorry for those of you who don't feel this way about our flag. Our flag is our beacon of hope. When all is lost, it will fly high. I can't express any further. If you read this, please think about what you believe personally and share. We are only strong in numbers. Thank you and god bless...

because I realize that most of you attended a school that did not honor the flag or the pledge of allegiance to the flag. The blind leading the blind will always end up being blind.

Brett, would you really compare a bumper sticker to Old Glory? Wow, the teacher/principal has already ruined you, wow!

Louis Cheek Jr, I am a veteran, so I will gladly step in. As a veteran you are taking this too far and your comment it off base. The principal handled the situation, end of story. This petition is stupid and should of never been brought about.
