Corporal Gallagher's actions in defense of his "adopted" country and his comrades not only reflect great credit upon himself and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps but they are the living embodiment of what our great nation was founded on and what, to this day, our brave men and woman in uniform continue to fight and die for today.

Proud to sign this petition-my late uncle Jack Reilly ( NYPD retired) and USMC in WW11 wanted me to join Marines after I left Irish Army but I opted for U.S.Army-was proud to join long list of Irish in Armed Forces of the United States of America.

I think it would be a fitting commemoration to a man who pledged both his loyalty and allegiance to a country born on the premise of freedom and democracy and who in the end gave the most ultimate sacrifice to preserve these core principles and values
