Great to see this covered in such detail. Lots of articles with a simple google search. Radio documentary was excellent, Google "Mayo boy vietnam hero" to find it. Well done to all involved, maybe there is hope for this world after all.

As a third generation Irish American and US Army veteran I find the story of Patrick Gallagher inspirational and fitting of the honor of a ship named in his honor.

His name should be on an Arleigh Burke destroyer!

I salute your service and sacrifice to your, and my, adopted country. As a former Hospital Corpsman assigned to the Marines, I am especially humbled by your services and "final full measure". I salute you and your family. Rory Murphy, LCDR USN formerly of Cork, Ireland.

We would love to see a ship named after Patrick Gallagher. MY brother was in Vietnam also. He came over from Co. Cavan Ireland March 1965. Was drafted in the Marines in 1966.
