Patrick Gallagher is a true gallant hero that deserves to be recognized with a ship named after him. Our country was built by immigrant sacrifice, and this marine's selfless action reflected great credit upon the Corps, the Navy, his native Ireland and his adoptive United States.

As a retired US Naval Reserve Officer who proudly served in the Surface Warfare Community, and being a first-generation irish-american whose mother was born in Ballyhaunis, I proudly sign this petition in support of this effort to name a US Navy Destroyer after Corporal Patrick Gallagher, USMC.

As a former Marine Captain and of Irish Heritage I respectfully submit Cpl Gallagher as a name for a DDG class ship. The Irish are closely affiliated with the Marines. Since Cpl Gallagher is a Navy Cross awardee I feel he is fully deserving of the honor. William Keating, VMFA-451.
