Well deserved.. Epitomises the Irish Psyche when they emigrate, they get involved and make other causes their own.. Therin making that foreign cause/grass their own!!!

I support and endorse naming a destroyer in honor of Corporal Patrick "Bob" Gallagher, USMC Navy Cross of Ballyhaunis Co Ireland who volunteered to serve our country in Vietnam despite the fact he was not a US citizen.

As a USMC "66-'69 I've know and met a number of Marines that fall into "hero" status in my opinion, however as unique as this Marines story is doing something special for someone that loved his adopted country enough to die for it calls for something special in his memory.
