Inspired by the Rte Doc on One show. May the memory of Patrick, and all who passed, be cherished always.

Patrick Gallagher served and died as a man whose values are those that make the United States of America great: Freedom and democracy.

As a green-card immigrant, from Canada, and a Vietnam Veteran, I totally support this petition. It shouldn't matter where a hero hails from, only that he/she was heroic. Lance Corporal Patrick Gallagher, honored his family, the United States Navy and his adopted country. It is most fitting that a ship be named in his honor. I am happy that that honor will come to fruition. Sgt. Glenn Gardner, Co. E, 3/21 Inf., 196 LIB, 23 Div. (Americal)

Valor, Honor, Sacrifice, to his fellow Marines and the United States, he make me proud to be of an Irish American ( my Father and Grandfather were both veterans).
