This is an oppressive and bureaucratic response to a minor infringement and there must be a better solution. The man does not deserve to lose his business, and regular customers like me should not have to lose him.

Taking everything into consideration, perhaps the Council could have a re-think on this matter! It is really not necessary for them to be so hard-hearted, which is coming across as bullying. Please re-instate this gentleman in his rightful place - after so long - in the Market. Thank you!

I'm Brighton born and bred. There has been Mears at the open market for as long as I can remember. What a ridiculous and petty reason to evict him.

I've been a customer of Mears' fruit and veg for 20 years or more, it would be tragic if this stall were to close

The open market is a victim of gentrification in Brighton. Used to shop there every week. Never go there anymore. Very sad..

This is the simple fact of the idiots sitting on their backside just creating problems within the community instead of helping the situation by giving him a parking space nearer and realising he's been serving the community for so many years

Could the council be in breach of the Disability Discrimination Act here ? Have they offered an adequate alternative of a parking space close by ? Such an ageist society we live in.

That's terrible, they're taking his stool off him? What will he sit on? Was he given any warnings? If he's being evicted without any warnings then that's terrible. I feel like they would have given him warnings though, so if he ignored them then it sounds like his fault..
