Encourage the Legislators and Governor Wolf to pass the full state budget that includes Tourette Syndrome asap! This funding was included in the budget, but was line-item vetoed by the Governor.
Since 1993, the PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance (PA-TSA) has provided information, education and disability advocacy to individuals with Tourette Syndrome through a grant from the PA Department of Health. This funding helps individuals with this misunderstood neurological condition be supported and accepted within their schools, families, and communities.
The symptoms of Tourette Syndrome can be debilitating, but worse
still is the treatment received by sufferers when those around them do
not understand their struggles. Funding for Tourette Syndrome has truly
made a difference in the lives of many children and adults with TS. This
funding provides information to help family members understand their
diagnosis. It provides training to teachers who can then support them
within the school setting. And it provides sensitivity training to peers
to reduce teasing and bullying. The support and education provided by
the PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance cannot be replaced. Pennsylvania
cannot afford to terminate these services.

We are approaching one hundred signatures which is the threshold required to trigger a formal response from the legislative office. Focus your efforts on securing additional signers by the end of this current session to maximize our leverage during the scheduled budget review.

Having the Pennsylvania Tourette Syndrome Alliance has been a HUGE resource to us. PATSA helps Tourette's kids and their families in many ways. Please do not veto funding to this organization. Money is needed for weekend camps, and training for parents, teachers, and students.
As the mother of a 28 year old son with Tourettes who endured many ups and downs while trying to come to grips with this condition, I feel it is vital that funding be available to educate people about Tourette Syndrome and offers support to individuals with this condition.
Please reinstate these funds, this service has helped both me and my son every year in educating the school and his friends about Tourettes and how it effects my son in school and in daily life. This is super important to a lot of people, please help with funding the PA Tourettes Syndrome Alliance.
It is only because of the PA-TSA rep visiting my son's school that we got the right type of sensory breaks for motor skills and accommodations to keep my son comfortable. Until then, the school fought against us hard. The PA-TSA has supported in a way that helps tremendously.
This organization helped us when our son was in elementary school and was always in trouble until we got the proper diagnosis and discovered he has tourette syndrome. Without their help he never would have been diagnosed.
It is absolutely appalling that this is even happening. There are PLENTY of other places to make budget cuts. You need to look there first.

I have family who benefits from these programs. Also, I'm a special educator and understand the importance and impact these programs have on individuals with disabilities and their families.
