Parkside at Shelby Farms Rezoning - Say NO

I live at 5960 Shady Grove Rd, Memphis. I travel from Walnut Grove, thru Shelby Farm, and over to Mullins Station intersection every morning and every afternoon. There is a horrendous bottleneck at the intersection at Walnut Grove and Shelby Farm and also at Shelby Farm and Mullins Station (commuter traffic). These streets are two-lane and already congested w/o adding apartment towers and commercial retail. I live at: 7439 Bakers Glenn Ln, Cordova. I travel Mullins Station almost every day thru Shelby Farm and over to Walnut Grove. No to Parkside at Shelby Farms,and NO to rezoning!!!!!

Even if designed as upscale apartment living, the large scale as proposed will be an eyesore to what should remain a natural setting. The influx of traffic will be dangerous, and over time, this area will see a serious drop in quality tenants, especially as management changes hands over the years. Best to keep this area single family or smaller scale retail. Think of some creative alternatives. Please don't ruin the wide open feel of the park.

I have lived in this area for 18 years and don't want to see our neighborhood changed any more than it already has. Crime is up and home values are down. Being close to the semi-country living of being so close to Shelby Farms is the only plus we have left. There is nothing positive that these structures could bring to the area. Honestly, look at the crime reports from apartment complexes in the area and reconsider. This would be the beginning of the end for Shelby Farms and our community!

The area is not meant to have this kind of development. It is a beautiful park, surrounded by single family homes. The park is enjoyed by many and traffic is already congested. This development will make traffic a nightmare and make it where people who now enjoy the park will find its serenity, beauty and roaming deer will disappear.

This area is already congested and needs more lanes at this point, much less when more traffic is added.

Let me say a little something about the monstrosity development being proposed across from Shelby Farms Park called Parkside at Shelby Farms. If the property is rezoned and the development allowed to proceed, I say that we can all simply say goodbye to the beautiful park known as Shelby Farms Park and all the creatures that call it home. How sneaky of them to propose this development during the slow season and during the improvement process of Shelby Farms Park Patriot Lake, possibly with the belief that no one is paying attention. If this plan is allowed to proceed we must accept the reality that every greed driven corporation/company will jump at buying up all the land surrounding SFP. We will inevitably see, for example, hotels, fast food restaurants with fast food smells polluting the air around the park, possibly a car dealership and without a doubt a crime-ridden shopping mall, not to mention the traffic that comes with all of this. The roads that run next to the park, Mullins Station Rd and Raleigh-Lagrange Rd will clearly need to be widened. All of us that care about the future of and support by membership and donations Shelby Farms Park must do all that we can to prevent this and secure the protected future of SFP. I must believe that there are many influential supporters that have the power to help this mission. If you have not already, please sign the petition. It's a start. Save Shelby Farms Park.

Keep Shelby farms the way it is

6677 Bent Tree Avenue I do not want apartments in my backyard. I do not want to do with even more traffic everyday. We bought our home in this area because it was quiet, relatively safe and in a good school zone. I have to drive for an hour to get to work and home and I only work 11 miles away. The traffic is unbelievable already, another 50,000 cars will make it unbearable. Please don't do this.

Less is more. Keep commercial zoning away from residential & park areas.

Please don't destroy the natural beauty of Shelby Farms by approving this development. Please don't destroy the property values of the adjacent neighborhoods with high traffic and commercial developments dividing two neighborhoods.

We do not need anything that will distract from the wonderful park.

Why can't we just enjoy the largest urban park in the country! That's what Shelby Farms is, the largest urban park, and we have that honor here in Memphis. Let's not destroy or detract from what we already have!!!! There does NOT have to be a building or a money making scheme on every corner in Shelby County!

I think it should stay the way it is, we don't have too many places with land like that here in Memphis.
