Introduce Parking Permits in Hollingdean Terrace, Roedale, Dudley and upper Hollingdean Roads,

I live on Hollingdean Terrace and agree, a parking permit scheme would be a good idea.

As an expectant mum I am concerned that we rarely are able to park near our house or even on our road. Once baby arrives it will make life very tricky if I am on my own. I imagine this issue will also be affecting other elderly, less able residents or those with children too. Permit times between 10-4 would work well stopping people parking during the day or leaving vehicles for extended periods and also mean visitors would not have to pay for to long a period. Parking appears to be worse during university term time as many houses have multiple occupancy in this area. Will there be a tighter restrictions for students like there is in other university towns?

Currently very tricky to park on these roads. Possibly a parking permit time of 9-4 would knock out most of the problems and still leave the area relatively accessible to friends and family visiting.

Since introducing parking schemes around five ways and then around Lewes Road Hollingdean has become a car park. Permits should be introduced in surrounding roads too otherwise it will just push the problem to these streets. Light touch parking permits don’t work as vans can still park over night - a friends experience in Hanover. I want to be able to come home from work and be able to park a reasonable distance from my home. I am reluctant to use my car in the evenings for fear of not being able to park when I get back. We need this as soon as possible.

Lets get a Controlled Parking Zone in Hollingdean

It is a sad day when we have to do this but totally sympathize with the residents of the roads in question. I live in Hertford Rd and it is often very difficult to park here especially later in the evening. Problem will be that if restrictions are just in the three roads mentioned it will only push the problem to other roads in the area. If the permits were for the whole of Hollingdean I may be persuaded (reluctantly) to sign a petition

Not only is it difficult to park outside my house which is built for the disabled but people park incredibly dangerously on the corners of the road. Counsel workers park there and so do pub goers. The road is used for labourers to park their vans over night even though they live on rugby road.

Wrong side of Fiveways so council doesn't care. My daughter and her children live in Hollingdean Terrace. Their road is used as a parking lot (for months on end) by white van man - who doesn't even live in the area. It's dangerous and anti-social. I used to live in Stanford Ave - the "right side of Fiveways". Does anyone imagine we were expected to put up with s...?! Of course not.

Cars and especially vans illegally parked for days on end and creating a hazard.

We need the permits as there is a huge lack of parking.

There is often no parking on my road once I get home from work it’s fustrating and often leads to having to park the car in an undersiable place. I’m fed up with. After a long day of work and gym I just want to park my car near my house.

I fully support the introduction of parking permits, having not seen the need for it just a few years ago. The introduction of permits in surrounding areas has meant more and more people parking on our street. As others have said, lots of the staff from the recycling depot park on Dudley Road early in the mornings and some student houses have three or more cars. We have a had a problem with people living in their vans on the street before too, as well as adandoned cars. Permits are the only solution to what is becoming an increasingly bad problem. I would favour certain hours of the day being blocked or a Monday-Friday restriction.

I live in Stanmer Park Road and it is the same here. People dumping work vans, camper vans and mobile homes for weeks and some even living in them. Non of these people live on the road or even near the road, causing a lot of inconvenience. I have also found that when asking people not to leave their work vans here they just give me the bird and threaten to damage my property! It's time for this to change so please please please lets get this sorted. I'm not a fan of permits but we need them, period.

I have lived in Dudley Road for the last 32 years but in the last few years the parking has become impossible -to be able to park outside our own house has now become a nightmare and almost impossible instead of having to drive around for anything from 10mins to 45mins to get parked anywhere at all we to have had parking tickets as we have had to park with car half on yellow lines -what with the council workers using the road to park their cars from 5-30-early evening-the amount of students -existing parking permits roads in the area -and the cars/vans that are dumped -also cars being left for 3-7 days with out being moved in our road is not acceptable. why cannot the council employees park in the own yard??? I have a car port but unable to use as car users have been known to park across our car port with car on it and block us in.I am an elderly person and have a special needs grandson who visits every weekend so we need to be able to park as close to my house as possible. I fully support the action to have Parking Permits put in place.

I lived on Roedale Road 12 years ago as a student and have recently moved back again. The parking now is absolutely terrible and makes life difficult with a young baby. This must change as it is unacceptable as it is.
