Introduce Parking Permits in Hollingdean Terrace, Roedale, Dudley and upper Hollingdean Roads,

Hollingdean Terrace , What a joke , you cant park in your own street , to many students

Had enough of not being able to park in my own street Hollingdean Terrace Please sort this out , local workers from the Hollindean Council depot and people working in Brighton centre parking here

On Upper Hollingdean Rd we are literally an island of no permits. We have 2 small children and have to park as far away as Dudley Rd. We will be literally stuffed for parking if these roads get permitted and we don't.

PARK UP TO THE EDGE OF WHITE/YELLOW LINES PEOPLE!!!! The amount of people that park in such an incredibly selfish way (half a car or 2/3s of a car away from the edge is becoming infuriating. This alone would help the situation. Every day I see people parking like this. EVERY DAY. Please think of others, have some consideration! It would also help if people stopped parking in the middle of a space big enough for 2 cars!!

After previously resisting this idea (due to extra cost) I now have to agree that this is becoming necessary. I get home (Hollingdean Terrace) from work around midnight and parking is extremely difficult at this time. I have spent countless hours both looking for & returning from parking spaces, often very far from my house. My partner has exactly the same problem. I agree the situation has worsened over time, particularly after residents permits were introduced in Hanover & other areas. Over Christmas, parking was very easy, just illustrating how many spaces are taken by non-residents during normal months (ie being used for parking whilst at work/students leaving their cars here for free parking during term etc) As previously mentioned, my main concern is the extra cost it will put onto us. Both myself & my partner would need a permit, I imagine that this will cost £200-300 between us. It’s a big financial hit. It would also help if people considered others more when parking. Very often vehicles are not parked right up to the white/yellow lines etc, thus wasting unusable parts. They are effectively occupying an extra half a space that could add up for others to use.

There is no choice left for the long suffering residents of Hollingdean but to have parking permits in place. Brighton council have forced this problem into the area and it will only force it into another one. Permits should never have been introduced in the first place. Improve public transport services and prices and people will have more incentive to leave their cars at home. Even with Brighton's ridiculous parking prices it's still cheaper than a return on the bus for my partner and I to go into town. This is not rocket science!

Parking permits are needed now more than ever, the situation will only worsen. Our neighbourhood is basically one giant car park now : (

Steve Devereux, Roedale Rd. The enforcement of parking on yellow lines during the day time & builder/trade materials on the public highway without permits appears to be inadequate. The Brighton & Hove council waste facility must provide off street parking for their employees or publish a time table of the shift changes so residents will know when spaces will be available to park in!

It is definitely time for resident permits to be introduced to this area. Historically it has been difficult just with workers parking for the Council Depot at the bottom of the road but there are now many other factors aswell with vehicles being left for long periods and forcing local residents to double park to unload shopping etc and avoid a long walk from the car. This is particularly inconvenient for people with children and elderly people.

The whole of Hollingdean now has a big problem. The council have introduced parking permits in surrounding areas and this has pushed parking into Hollingdean. Therefore the whole of Hollingdean should now be considered for permits.

If cars are ticketed for being on a double yellow line when there are no other spaces, why are the dangerously parked cars that are sticking out into the middle of the road at junctions not being towed?These are the far more dangerous cars. Also, the council has allowed too many HMO houses in the area, creating not just an awful parking situation for families that live here, but also increased noise late at night. Hollingdean is not a family community anymore sadly.

The roads mentioned are not the only ones with a parking problem. I live at the lower end of Davey Drive and trying to get a parking space here is next to impossible. Because the road is quite narrow, parking is only allowed on one side. Buses frequently have difficulty negotiating cars parked half up on the pavement across double yellow lines. This problem arrived only a few years ago almost overnight. I think that most or possibly all of Hollingdean should be considered as a controlled parking zone. I know that this would push the problem somewhere else but what other options do we have?

Hi Robert if you want to pass the details of this petition on to the people who signed your petition last year that would probably help have more impact with the council. We have now included your road. We can all see that you are as impacted by this problem as we all are, if not more so. I have updated the title to include your road and we will look to leaflet your road too. Thanks

Upper Hollingdean Road is just as bad and should be included, we made a petition to the council in late 2017 and were told it would be considered in early 2018 but nothing happened

Parking became difficult almost overnight with the introduction of controlled parking zones nearby. Zone G was introduced as an add on to Fiveways covering Hollingbury Road. This small zone could easily be extended and cover the areas that this scheme requests. Unfortunately, we are now suffering from second/third vehicles, motorhomes and commercial vans from people who live in a controlled zone but who don't/can't get a permit. Often these vehicles are left for days or weeks on end. This leads to lots of driving around hunting for a space, adding to local congestion and pollution, and extra walking back to home (after double parking to unload). Yes, there is a risk this will just move the problem on to the next streets. But this is the issue that has been faced many times as the controlled parking zone has spread and no other residents groups have found an answer. Without a city-wide solution (light touch for all remaining areas perhaps?) then we need something locally. So, with regret, I support this petition for local parking controls
