We, Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-Creek teams of the GO! Austin/VAMOS! Austin (GAVA) coalition, urge our Open Space, Environment, and Sustainability Committee to disburse the $1.15 million Park Block Grant equitably and based on historic need in 78744 and 78745. The needs of our 11 teams are based on safety and health.
We represent Districts 2, 3, and 5; we are Franklin Neighborhood Park, Ponciana Park, Houston School Park, Dove Springs District Park, Onion Creek Greenbelt Park, Kendra Page Park, Central Williamson Creek Greenbelt, Odom School Park, Cunningham School Park, St. Elmo School Park, “Connect Garrison Project,” and Joslin Neighborhood Park.
We believe that all parks and green spaces in Austin, regardless of the area of town, need to be equipped with the basic amenities that make them valuable assets to the community. Sign this petition if you support the GAVA Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-Creek teams’ call upon the Open Space, Environment, and Sustainability Committee to equitably distribute the Park Block Grant and to prioritize the needs, based on safety and health, of the GAVA Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-Creek teams.

I'm the President of the Armadillo Park Neighborhood Association and support more equitable funding for parks in Districts 2, 3, and 5. Odom School Park, in particular, needs more amenities to give residents a good and safe place to excercize. It needs a running/jogging track that won't wash out after every rain.

South Austin needs more and better parks! Odom School Park needs many improvements, and is the only park that is walkable for many residents with and without children. People in this part of Austin love to be outside, and deserve better, safer spaces!

Yes, please. Equitable distribution to all parks. Would love to see a vida course over and the track amended to reduce washout after rains at Odom School Park. Thank you you for your time and attention.
