Park at Mystic Oral School

Make this whole Oral School idea a referendum. This property is too important for the council to make its own decision.

Park yes! New housing for 1000, NO!

I feel strongly that Mystic Residents would help work hard to preserve as well as enjoy open space at the Oral School. We in town have to leave the Mystic River Valley to find and use open space in other towns. Further the working class in Mystic Proper is becoming extinct. We are here, been here, want to raise our children here, have them return to our beautiful village when they get ready to raise their family. We are done with the million dollar condos on the river. Enough already with the Developer Greed. Can we please have a space to go in our own town, and commune with nature and our community of people.

Mystic is already overrun with long-term out of state residents. Don’t ruin the charm of this lovely little town by making it overcrowded.

I'm relatively new in Mystic , only 2 years and I'm on Oral School Road . Traffic access , sewage issues , noise , sanitation etc., should all be considered and more . If I'm going to loose value on my new home after just arriving & this project goes through with no input from a majority of residents , it may be time to get out while I can . Taxes are high enough as it is and I'm not looking to foot the bill for for others unnecessarily or unfairly . A Referendum at the voting polls is certainly in order . Groton City Council should be informing every resident every step of the way . In 2 years I've gotten ZERO notices on this project .

I live on Gravel Street in the Mystic Historic District. I think any change to the town's zoning regulations to create a "floating zone" at the Mystic Education Center property should be subject to extensive review. The impact of such dense development on traffic and parking on River Road and downtown Mystic has to be of paramount concern. I believe residents should insist the town hold actual public meetings - not virtual zoom meetings - to hear residents' concerns. We have to be assured that residents have a true voice as we turn out in droves to reject the Respler proposal.

The citizens in our SE Conn area should give their input on this great opportunity. This would be a park where people can walk, where young kids could go swimming, where people of all ages could go and enjoy the arts at the the existing wonderful auditorium and perhaps even host our very own SouthEastern Regional Community Band.

This absolutely should be a referendum- and the traffic that access to the highway will need to be addressed if you’re adding and additional 1000+ cars...Luxury living and young don’t match, it’s nothing their price range!

931 Units is like city living...I think there are better uses that putting that many units and an additional 1800 cars roughly in that little part of town. High end housing won’t bring young...

The proposal supported by the Planning Department will have a seriously adverse effect, not only on the adjoining neighborhood, but on all of Mystic. The Oral School is the wrong place for a 931 unit housing project.

I’m in 100% agreement. The current plan for 931 units is Absurd. I live down the street and I’m horrified at the thought of adding 1500 people to 1 space.

The proposed building project on this site is far too large given that Mystic already struggles with traffic and parking. Building up this area will only take away from the towns charm. As a resident and small business owner in the town I believe it is only right to allow the people that live here to have a say in what happen with this land.

I’ve already been circulating a petition and survey to keep the auditorium instead of turning it into offices. To hear the onslaught on the wooded areas is terrible. Once you let a green space be developed, it’s gone. It should be for the enjoyment of all, especially next to River Rd, an oasis for so many walks for so many people. There is a historic cemetery there too, full of Denison, Gallup and Winthrop family plots.

terrible, way over-reaching project which is totally inappropriate for the neighborhood and unneeded for our community. Use as a park, incorporating recrational uses including the pool and other community usage. I am close but not an immediate neighbor and they must be even more distressed by this outrageous project than I am. Adding more to the tax rolls is not always what is best for the community and Town.

It should be a park Luxury apartments and no affordable housing. Light clutter and more noise pollution. transient occupation of young professionals in the middle of a quiet community of both historic and single family houses. The land values around it falling.Redundant main street. This is wrong on many levels.

Too many speculators for rental market that isn't there. This area isn't really walkable to "historic" Mystic.

Increasing our town population by nearly 50% is unreasonable at best and destructive to our collective community at worst. Our river will be in danger with the run off. Please think long term for your citizens, not short term for the newly (and temporary) employees of EB that should be getting paid enough to warrant a commute from their current homes.
