People who do not live in the area that will be negatively affected are voting on a topic which by everyone’s acknowledgement on both sides of the issue will be highly detrimental to sections of Palmetto Bay FL. The 87th Avenue bridge WILL NOT SOLVE THE TRAFFIC SITUATION IN SOUTH DADE. 87th Avenue bridge WILL NOT ALLEVIATE CARS HEADED NORTH to downtown Miami/ Coral Gables/South Miami/Downtown Dadeland/ Coconut Grove. These cars will HAVE TO DIVERT TO US1 or 82nd/77th Ave within a mile of this proposed bridge… Exactly what those cars do RIGHT NOW. THE AREA NORTH OF THIS PROPOSED BRIDGE WILL BECOME CUT THROUGH STREETS TOWARD US1/82nd Ave/77th Ave. THIS PROPOSED BRIDGE IS NOT THE ANSWER. OPENING THE BUSWAY AND HAVE CARD HEAD NORTHBOUND IN THE MORNING AND SOUTHBOUND IN THE AFTERNOON. FIVE LANES OF NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC IN THE A.M. WILL BE A TRAFFIC RELIEF TO OUR TRAFFIC SITUATION. FIVE SOUTHBOUND LANES ON US1 IN THE P.M.
THE BUSWAY IS BEING UNDERUSED 24-7, 365 DAYS A YEAR. ADDING TWO EXTRA NORTHBOUND LANES ON US1 FROM 6-9am AND TWO EXTRA LANES SOUTHBOUND FROM 3-6pm WILL ALLEVIATE TRAFFIC.
THE 87th AVE BRIDGE WILL NOT HELP TRAFFIC ONCE THE 87th AVE TRAFFIC MERGES ON TO US1/82/77 Avenues. LET’S WORK TOGETHER ON THIS ISSUE. NO MORE DIVISIONS AMONG NEIGHBORS IN THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY. THK YOU, Elsa Trujillo

I thought we lived in a democracy, but this is just a ploy to win voters for a commissioner without even consulting the VPB homeowners who will have their lives and property values diminished dramatically. Remember this is the USA not some third world country!!!

The bridge will just make the traffic entering the roundabout heavier on 87th ave.

This bridge and ones like it would ruin neighborhood community. We need a real solution to traffic issues not a band aid

A bridge will not spot this traffic, it only goes north to 140 street , and dead ends. Maybe 1 mile. Get the metro rail going.

The bridge is a terrible idea. Palmetto Bay should not accommodate for traffic to flow better through our streets because of development in other areas. These are residential streets. Miami-Dade County, you have a problem with the traffic infrastructure and it’s not the responsibility of the VPB residents to take on the burden that this bridge will bring to our neighborhoods.
Fix the the turnpike, offer a lower toll rate for earlier drivers, fix the bus system, add the metrorail to Homestead, etc. There are plenty of options. Adding a bridge will only allow for more bridges to be built and lower our property values.

Can we build a movement from here to properly, peacefully, democratically stop this?
