The bridge is a just a band aid to fix the lack of planning by the county. To encourage people to drive thru quiet residential streets instead of county highways

No to the bridge. Fix the root issue. We purchased our home to be in a safe quiet neighborhood setting (which it was) but now 148th St. is a passing road for 87th Ave and US 1, and there’s constant passing and speeding cars (regardless of humps). Opening of the bridge would add congestion, loss of security for the home owners, have an environmental impact and for what approximately 20 blocks gain! What happens when they reach the dead end on 141st St? There are stop signs and street lights on 87th Ave; traffic will back up and the small streets will become cut throughs. The issue will still not be fixed just passing the burden onto another Village. No to the building of the bridge.

The resolution you are sponsored was previously voted on by the Commission and was defeated. Nothing has changed except you were appointed to the Commission.
You are using your appointment to push through a project that will increase risk to our children and residents who live north of the bridge. It will also decrease home values and put more neighborhoods in jeopardy of increased crime.
The TPO study found the decreased commute time was because the bridge gave commuters more access to more side streets, thus dispersing the cars throughout the neighborhood. This is a bridge to nowhere as it will only be hitting another bridge just beyond 141st street. It will not help and is only a band-aid to a much bigger problem of an overdevelopment issue to our south. It should never be a solution to make it easier to navigate through our neighborhoods. The traffic solutions should be focused on public transportation and moving cars out of the neighborhoods to US1 or the Turnpike.
This is clearly backroom politics during a global pandemic. It is obvious you are trying to push this trough when it is very difficult for residents (many over the age of 65) to voice their opposition to your resolution.

I oppose any vehicle bridges in Palmetto Bay. The argument that this will alleviate traffic is a fallacy. In a few years time these bridged routes will be just as congested as other busy streets in Palmetto Bay, decreasing safety, property values, quality of life and increasing pollution. Furthermore allowing a proposal such as this to be passed without input from the community is a disrespect for democracy.

I have 3 small children that I fear immensely getting hurt as they play around 87th Ave daily. We moved to this house because there is no through street to main traffic, please for the safety and well being of all the children in the area, do not put the bridge in.

Creating bridges on quiet streets does not solve the traffic problems. Bridges will encourage only more traffic and will not result in any savings in commuting time and create more cut-throughs on quiet street than exist now.

I adamantly oppose ANY bridges in Palmetto Bay . As I’ve stated before to the committee this will only be benefit for those in Cutler Bay or further south to cut through our community. It will have almost no benefit for us in Palmetto Bay.

Our family has lived in Palmetto Bay for over 25 years. We hace see the increase of traffic in our small village. The bridge will affect all those who live in Palmetto Bay. Traffic will be unbearable as well as the influx of people that do not live in our village.
