Palmetto Bay neighborhoods should not pay for poor planning by the county. Fix the problem where appropriate— on the major roads. Not in residential areas.

do not bring more hardship to our neighborhood. if you want roads go make them in places designated to have roads, not among houses with growing children riding bikes or walking the family pet. it's enough we have a lockdown because a pandemic, now you want to have our children confined to walls because it will not be safe for them to go outside and ride a bike? Are you reducing our already pretty high taxes? What benefit is there for residents on 87th ave?

As a recent new member of the Palmetto Bay community, very much so oppose this proposal. Our attraction to this phenomenal community is its privacy, family oriented, pedestrian friendly environment.
Having driven throughout the county, I sympathize with the severe traffic. However, the bridge is not even close to relieving traffic from our neighbors to the south and those in the north driving down. Close to 20 years ago we, the citizens of this county, voted for expansion of the metro rail along with improved mass transit. This is a bandaid to hide the large gash that is traffic due to poor planning in city/county design and not properly planning for population growth.
The proposal states that this will "address roadway connectivity and capacity needs", but just doing a simple google maps directions search of traveling from Cutler Bay to Downtown Miami during rush hours in the AM/PM commutes demonstrably show that traveling through 87th avenue would not decrease significantly the commute. However, if there were metro rail stations, along with feeder transportation to the stations would cut down same commute by at least 20%.
I would be in higher support to utilize approximately $3.1 million funds for expansion of metro rail connectivity and is the "best interest of all County residents" including us. How great would it be for a tourist to hop on a train from the airport and within 40 minutes be able to journey through our village of parks and explore historic Deering Estate? Or within the same time get to work stress free.
Lastly, all politics aside, this amendment is truly deaf tone. Commissioner Higgins is not starting on the right foot with who she represents. This is not a low hanging fruit item that the citizens of Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay could appreciate, especially during these pandemic times. Highly value a representative that listens, dialogues, and then makes a decision representative of a lot more than 50% of the citizenry. Clearly, this decision

I live on 160th street and I’m adamantly opposed to the construction of the bridge. Traffic will flood 87th avenue and drivers will use side streets to cut through to 82 and 77th avenues. Will devastate the neighborhood. Our roads are not meant to take on this traffic and quality of life will be dramatically reduced.

My name is Michelle Moore; I have lived in Palmetto Bay on 87th Ct for 14 years. A strong team of neighbors came together and opposed the 87th Ave bridge in the recent past. I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how it is coming up again...primarily because it is only extending 87th Ave 22 blocks.
Shouldn't Miami Dade County Commissioners be working diligently to figure out where our extra tax dollars went to improve public transportation?
The amount of money it will cost to build a bridge making 87th ave a through street for 22 blocks is not worth the tax dollars. Commuters will need to use 152, 144 or 141 to get back onto S. Dixie or 82nd Ave. It truly doesn't make any sense.

This bridge is a bad idea on every level. It will only create problems and it will solve none. Protect our neighborhood and our children. No good can come of increasing traffic through a neighborhood. Please say no to this poorly thought through agenda.
