We, the undersigned, are paid and unpaid staff at Pacifica Radio stations. We are the people who keep our stations on the air, who make the programs that make our listeners subscribe, and who raise the money that pays for your board meetings. We are concerned by the Pacifica National Board's move to enter into an expensive, unbudgeted management consulting contract at a time when jobs are threatened (or already gone) across the network. We think it's a misprioritization to ramp up spending on bureaucratic overhead while the network is cutting employees who perform core functions. We think it threatens the future of the network to take on debt to pay this bill. We encourage you to vote down this contract until you raise the money to pay for it yourselves. If you want to learn more about the challenges confronting Pacifica, and some possible solutions – invite some of us to your next meeting instead. We're a lot more affordable.
