sport is a big part of so many students university experience. There should be a set time for sport to be done. as a 3rdirect year engineering student I have had to try and balance my uni life with sport as I always have lectures on Wednesday afternoon. This means it is always a comper

I can see loads of reasons as to why this is a good idea. Not only does it allow me to dedicate time during the week to complete coursework and participate in society socials but it also allows lecturers a period of time in their busy weeks to dedicate either to marking or student support. Being a third year student, i would hugely benefit from having lecturers available for perhaps 1-2 hours on a regular bases for me to go and have a chat with, ask questions and further understand what i am being taught. For it to be truly beneficial i think lectures would need to finish around 12/1 giving both lecturers and students a good 4-5 hours of extra "free time".

Student and Lecturer perspective. I think it is a valuable designation for all in the University and would welcome this being more widely adopted. Please do remember that there are many students undertaking placements and other course related activities so this should not become the ONLY time for these events.

Part time employment is an integral part of financial stability for many students at Brookes, and Wednesday's allow them to supplement student finance with additional income.

As a postgraduate student who was an undergraduate at another university I believe sports and societies are an important aspect of university life (and for your CV) and Oxford Brookes should be enabling students to participate.

Everyone needs encouragement to continue or take up sport which has many advantages from meeting different group of people, widening interests, helping to combat obesity and assisting individuals to gain a balance in life.

I can't even believe that the uni is considering to abandon this UK wide tradition. Sport is of vital importance to student physical and mental health. The uni should be pushing for more people to take part, rather than trying to schedule lectures in this slot. Unbelievably short sighted and shockingly bad decision. Whomever decided to cancel this should be reprogrammed, perhaps with game of footy on wed, afternoons...
