Proposition 8 was a ballot proposition and constitutional amendment passed in the November 2008 state elections. By restricting the definition of marriage to opposite-sex couples, the proposition overturned the California Supreme Court's ruling of In re Marriage Cases that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry. The proposition did not affect domestic partnerships in California or same-sex marriages performed before November 5, 2008. However, same-sex couples are currently not allowed to marry. Please, help us overturn this proposition and make same-sex marriage legal again in California.
Seeing this momentum grow is exhausting but it reminds me why I started this fight in the first place. We have a long road ahead to get this right, yet your presence here gives me the resolve to keep pushing forward.

My best friends have been together ten years and deserve the same rights as everyone else. Its just basic equality.

Love is love. Everyone should have the right to marry the person they love. This is so overdue.
