The residents of Headington Hall are unhappy with the current visitation hours. Schools across the nation that get compared to the University of Oklahoma do not have visitation hours such as those in Headington Hall. Everyone knows that staying in Headington Hall is a very unique experience for college students. Although the experience is unique some students may prefer not to live here due to the visitation policy in place. We feel like if our visitation policy resembled that of the residential colleges, Dunham and Headington, then Headington Hall would be a more desirable place to live. Those who sign this petition agree that Headington Halls visitation policy needs to change. The policy specifically needs to be changed to that of the residential colleges. In the residential colleges the residents get to vote for the hours they would prefer. This way every single persons voice is heard and the best decision is made.

The momentum surrounding our request for policy reform is building at a steady pace. We need a final surge of momentum to reach the two hundred and fifty signature threshold before we present our findings to the administration.

October 20, 2017

We are approaching one hundred signatures and require a brief surge to reach this initial milestone. Please consider sending the petition link to fellow residents to help us gain momentum before we present our request to the administration.

Why pay so much more money a semester than the towers but can’t even have friends from other colleges stay with you? I really hope this gets implemented within this school year because it’s honestly so annoying to not be able to hang out with friends at night here/let them stay the night if needed

My son is a resident there and I do not understand the curfew being different for Headington. I feel the students should be able to vote on it.

College is supposed to be a place for the freedom to make adult decisions, not be bound by rules that prevent them.

I live in headington and i agree the visitation hours should be wiped out. We are grown adults and we are getting treated like kids

The visitation hours also hurt the quality of life and the students of Headington Hall. Considering the rules are in place to “protect us” seems a little outlandish. This is because overnight guests are in fact not a danger to anyone living here and most of us have our own rooms, so our roommates are not affected by these overnight guests. Also, it is quite interesting that at every turn of our college career we are expected to act and to be treated as adults, except when it comes to who we can have in our dorms and when. I hope this policy can be reformed, as do most of my peers.

Headington is not an ideal place to live if we can’t have people come and go as we please.

As adults, students at the University of Oklahoma should have a more flexible rules regarding visitiation, curfew, etc. This goes for not just Headingston, but all Residence Halls.
