When The Place was built in the early 2000's, times were different. Outdoor seating for public houses was discouraged due to the fear of noise disturbance. These days, local businesses are encouraged to increase trade and support the community. The majority of public houses in the area have a beer garden or some kind of outdoor seating and even some cafes have al fresco dining available.

Broomhill as an area has also changed. What was once a residential area, dominated by families and the elderly is now a thriving hub of students and young professionals who actively seek the best locations to spend those sunny, summer days.

We are not asking for much. We would like to install 4-6 picnic benches in our small outdoor space so that you can have somewhere to sit when the sun is shining. In order to achieve this we must reapply for planning permission and a strong support from locals would be very beneficial in showing the council that the seating we are asking for is not only in demand from our customers, but will also ease their fears that any noise caused would not be an issue to those who live nearby. We would of course do all that we can to ensure that any noise pollution would be kept to an absolute minimum.
