Our Models Safety Comes First is an important awareness and self- regulation campaign to show our business community, models, families, authorities and legislators that we are a responsible business community and take the safety and well-being of our young models seriously!
· OUR MODELS AND THEIR FAMILIES DEMAND AND DESERVE IT.
· OUR REPUTATION AND BUSINESS GROWTH DEPENDS ON IT
· OUR INDUSTRY MUST DELIVER IT!
In recent months, MAMA and its members have had to work with
Embassy officials and Police to assist models at risk or in danger.
This has included:
·Models being physically and verbally assaulted
·Models held and locked indoors against their will (false imprisonment)
·Models needing the assistance of local Embassies and/or Police rescue
·Passports retained by agents as a leverage guarantee to fulfill contracts
·Flight tickets retained by agents as a leverage guarantee to fulfill contracts
·Models bullied and degraded by agents
·Models jailed for not having proper work permits
·Models abandoned in the streets by agents
·Models ejected from model apartments in the middle of the night
The policy of MAMA is clear:
No one should lock a model indoors against their will.No one should retain a models passport or travel documents as a guarantee to fulfill working contracts.No one should retain a models flight ticket as a guarantee to fulfill working contracts.No one should make a model do anything against their will.No one should threaten or risk the safety of a model.
We as a community must be vigilant and will condemn any type of abuse or violence against our models.
MAMA is clear: Members will not work with a business that risks the safety of our models.Our models safety comes first.

I have spent the last few days talking with families whose children have endured the exact horrors that we are fighting to end here. These stories are far too common and prove that our industry needs a complete overhaul to guarantee basic human rights for every model. Please keep looking out for one another while we push for these necessary protections.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels like a weight lifting off my shoulders because I remember the terror in the eyes of the models we had to rescue. This growth proves that people are finally waking up to the reality of the danger our industry colleagues face abroad.

Had my fair share of run ins with togs that have no respect for the models or the industry. Happy to support all projects to protect everyone.
Models safety and well being must be of a concerned for everybody within the industry. We are answerable to their families if their safety is jeopardize. We fully support what MAMA is petitioning for and will spread the word around towards achieving respective objectives.

I'm a tog that's new to the business. I've already heard some of the horror stories from models I've worked with. I believe models should feel totally safe in the environment they're in at all times.
