Placing a family name on the stadium simply because of a financial contribution sickens me.

Hello Ambassador Mustard. We are on the verge of public disclosure of our reasons for a Stolen Valor Act violation. We have the public money transfer, the portrayal of the donor as equal to a Purple Hert recipient, and in turn receiving "tangible benfits,." We believe that the University is under contract to the donor to guarantee that his name is mentioned every time a broadcast mentions the name "Memorial Stadium." Our military legal advisor, a reitred JAG Colonel, says we may have enough to seek a criminal complaint. So far, we are getting bounced around, People at U.S. Attorney and FBI for Central Illinois are helpful, but they direct to the IG for the VA. IG at VA is closed during the shutdown, By charter, MSS can not litigate, nor can we accept donaions. A telephone call to University Legal confirmed that there is a contract between the donor and the University. They wanted a FOIA before sending it. We have not sent a FOIA. We don't want to be getting any mail from them. If this interests you at all, please call me at 815-291-9071 Jim French, Liaison. Again, MSS is not goiing to legal.

Hello Roger G. Clark,
Yours is a wonderdul comment, a summation in a sentence. Could you use this sentence as your first sentence in a three or four sentence letter to the editor of either the Champaign News Gazette or the Bloomington Pantagraph? It would be of help to us all to get your thoughts into print. Jim French. Please feel free to call me at 815-291-9071.

No person, no matter how wealthy or generous, should be allowed to usurp the honor of those who died in defense of their country.

I think back to the days when Memorial Stadium was built: What the workers thought. How they took pride in each brick that was laid. How the commemoration of the deceased veterans meant so much to them and the community. Now, that is all gone. So disappointed this has happened. UofI saw a paycheck and an opportunity. I'm certain Mr. Gies is a smart man...but this will be a blemish on his intelligence for years to come. So many other ways to be remembered than to put your name on a memorial of fallen soldiers. Please Mr. Gies...show your intelligence and business acumen once again and remove or move your name to another option on campus. All the fallen are looking down on you to make the right decision.

We know that He said "No greater love has any man but that he lay down his life for his friends. These heroic soldiers in WW I layed down thier lives for their friends, and for us as well. I belive that we are doing a Godly thing in holding Memorial Stadium in reverence for sacred ground. I do not think that God is pleased with anyone who wants to pretend that they died for our country. I believe there is nothing wrong in praying for a return to the simple two words, Memorial Stadium. I believe that if we don't lose heart, God will answer our prayers. Moreover, I think He will bless everyone who seeks to sustain the memory of those who died for our country. God always favors the meek and poor over the rich and powerful.

The name of the stadium is a sacred honor to our veterans and should not be a purchasable commodity under the guise of a "donation".

Someone should want to give a donation out of their heart not because they want a monument named changed to their name.

First, they took away Chief Illiniwek by a group representing a native American Indian group, none being of the "true" Illiniwek tribe. Now they change the name of the stadium that represents Veterans. What will be next to go by this liberal money driven University that I still call "home"?!?
