There is no reason why our children should attend a school that is further away from the neighborhood vs one that is closer

My children reside in Ledges Trace Subdivision. When they saw the new high school being built they were so excited. They said that that's great because they will be going to school with all of there friends since Kindergarten. However, this will not be the case of they are going to be attending Oak Ridge. We live 3 mins away. I as a parent is aposed to splitting up our children and having them go to a school that is 15 -20 mins away.

My son needs to stay with his life long friends through high school! Do not split up these kids because of zoning!

Totally agree with all the points noted. It just doesn't make any sense to do a transition like that at that point.

I was promised my kids would be attending the new high school when we moved here. School is a hard enough experience with the mean kids, so taking away the few friends my child does have is not okay by me.

Legends Trace (57J on the zoning map) should be refined to Grand Oaks High School. These children who go to York JR HS should all stay together and go to GOHS. In addition to breaking up neighborhood friends, keeping them at ORHS is a ridiculous waste of time and fuel money. Currently the ORHS bus stops at 6:20 am for a 7:20 am starting bell. It is unacceptable to waste 2 hours of our children's time everyday when GOHS will be about 15-20 minutes! Thank you for your consideration

Driving safety is a concern for my children. I don't want them to have to drive that far when the new high school is right down the street.

This makes no sense at all when kids have grown up together from elementary to jr high then when it is most crucial they are being pulled apart to go to a different school. High school alone is hard enough, but to go to a school that other friends are not is 100% crazy.... we are also much closer to the new school....

Don't treat our kids unfairly. They deserve to attend a school close to their home and not have to ride a bus that's going to get them home after dark.
