I am not aware of the circumstances that resulted in this demotion. However, I can’t understand how one can get the Crime Reduction Award in March 2018 & then demoted 3 months later as a result of crime.
I have know Regis for over 20 years & certainly view him as a strong, very even tempered leader who encourages, educates, inspires, and motivates those around him. I was very happy to see him promoted and had wondered why it took so long to give him the promotion that he so deserved. It is unreasonable to fault a dedicated servant for the woes of a community that has so many underlying issues that exceed the purview of the police department. Instead of demoting Regis, why not rally the community & other agencies/organizations to employ a multiagency approach in providing the necessary resources to effectively strengthen & heal a hurting, underserved community. Even this approach will only be effective if the community engages and participates in the process.
I urge the reinstatement of Commander Regis Bryant, along with the necessary resources to effectively do his job. Regis’ knowledge is extensive demonstrated by the many who have been promoted under his tutelage.

I think his performance speaks for itself. If no isolated incident occurred to cause a demotion on his behalf the he should be re-instated.
