The official message said parents were to use their best judgment and that there was uncertainty if it was a credible threat. This should not even be a question of an excused absence.

This school needs more work on keeping it's students and faculty safe.

I heard nothing of this incident until the morning News 5. At that time NO police statement was issued. It was stated the decision was up to PARENTS!

It should be excused. I love my child no matter what and her safety is my number 1 priority. And it saddens me to think the school board and RHS would not automatically count this as excused !

I believe the school board should excuse ALL the students who missed or who was checked out of school today. This was a threat that ended up becoming aware to school across the country. There was schools who were on lock down as the kids got to school in different schools. The school board for Robertsdale knew of the threat between the hrs of 1 and 2 am this was told to me by Mr. Roh. He also stated that yes they contacted the media for them to do updates and the media had started posting on the web as early as I seen at 530am. Some parents stated that they received call at 745am and I received mine at 751am. This was hours after they had knowledge. I asked Mr.Roh why the media was notified hrs before the parents and he stated he had to wait for a fax. Ummmm I am sorry parents should have been notified before the media. My children get on a bus before 630 and I do not watch nor listen to the news for personal reasons. Also I would like to know why I did not receive the email like other parents did when I get emails for other garbage and things concerning the school system. If the wanted to panic parents they sure as heck done it by not letting parents know anything until minutes before school started. I believe something needs to be done about the lack of information and the way this was handled. When I walked into the school at 830 to get my child there were a few people in the main lobby and I seen one person's badge on his hip on not in uniform. I was not stopped or asked any questions nor was any of the pther parents. A mother entered crying. I finally left the building again seeing those few people still just chatting. I did not see not one marked car in the front. So where were we as parents to see this increased security? I am appalled by the lack of communication, reguards to the safety of all involved, and the fact that they say this is not an absence that will be excused. The school and school board took our rights as parents away from us when they failed

Honestly it's disgusting how little regard the school system had shown for our lives. It's absurd that they cared so little that all the cops were GONE by 10:30 am. Nevermind that it's an UNEXCUSED absence.

Our children's lives are more important than some attendance policy.

If it wasn't for my friends texting me this morning, I would have been none the wiser. My guardian should have received a call the SECOND the school found out about this. The Baldwin County School System failed us today. Not to mention the police left because of the lack of students. Showing how we are only cared as a whole, making the school money by our attendance, and not as individuals.

I totally agree with this. All of those students that missed today absolutely had a right to do so. The parents were scared, but let's also not forget that the children that go there were also scared for their lives. Who in their right mind would actually want to go to school if there was a treat that their lives were in danger. I think this school should be ashamed of themselves for marking them as "unexcused". Learn how to protect your students. Make their absences excused!

These absences should be excused! Threats against our children should be taken seriously.

These absences should ABSOLUTELY be excused. That is the least that the school system should do in this situation.

To whom it may concern.... I kept my children home today due to a threat made against ALL of the students that attend R.H.S. In this day and time it is better to be safe than sorry. I feel this was a terroristic threat that was made and should be treated as such. I also feel that the students that stayed home from school should be counted as an EXCUSED absence. You can make up a day of missed school but you can't replace a life.
