Let us be excused! If it was your child, you'd do the same thing!

This is ridiculous. What if the threat had been carried through. It does happen.

Us "Parents" have done the right thing (Protecting our Children) why would you reprimand them, because the Parents did there Job? Would you have allowed your child to attend school, where a threat has been made? This is ridiculous with everything going on in this world. Why does everything have to be a problem? Why do the parents have to worry that there child will suffer due to us protecting them to the best of our ability? Had something happened, then we would be wrong for sending them to school knowing there was a known threat. As they say, Darned if you do Darned if you dont. My child was home safe and that's ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME!

Better safe than sorry with police school and school board all saying they didn't know how could parents send their children to school

I don't think it's fair that we decide to keep our children home and safe and the school is gonna say it's unexcused!! We are parents who are thinking of our children's safety and nothing else I am not sorry for keeping my child home and safe today!!!

They need to excuse this with the way this world is today I'm not sending my son to school or anywhere else with a threat like this

It's better to be safe than sorry & the school having to answer for the death of anyone!! Why make the student body worry about further things such as an unexcused absence with everything else going on!!

My grandchildren attend RHS. Not knowing all the facts this morning, the school board could not guarantee that this threat was not real and so they left it up to the patents discretion. It is obvious by the low turnout thatt most parents decided to weigh on the side of caution. Now the school board is going to punish those parents/students who chose to keep their child home with an unexcused absence. That is outrageous. These students should be excused. What if this had been a real threat? How would the board explain themselves then?

This is ridiculous. The safety of the children and faculty come first!

Even if it there was not a "shootout" i would rather know mu daughter was safe at home than asking myself why didnt I keep her home at her funeral! If my childs absence is not excused, the BCBE should be ashamed of themselves!!!

I already called the Baldwin County Board of Education and spoke with them. I was informed the Policy mandates that it would be unexcused however, the Policy needs to be changed to reflect parental rights. In this time that we live in, it should always be up to the parent to determine if they have significant safety concerns. We need to take back our parental rights to protect our children.

Idiots, don't tell parents they can keep their kids home for safety and the decide to mark it unexcused when the threat wasn't real. Would they still be unexcused if someone did shoot up the school?

My babies safety comes first. The way the world is you can't take anything lightly. I'm still not convinced the rest of the week is safe till they find where this came from and who sent it out.

I had two who were sick during the night and I was not planning on sending them to school today anyway. Now I assume since I didn't take them to the doctor (and pay the $160 co-pays) they will be unexcused also.

For the safety of my child along with other children in a matter concerning this an absence should be excused.
