Val Kilmer did an amazing job & should have been recognized by the Academy for his portrayal of Doc Holliday.

He upstaged everyone in Tombstone. His best role by far.

It's a shame and an unforgivable oversight that Val Kilmer was not nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Doc Holliday in Tombstone. He not only should've been nominated, he should've won. Please correct this and honor him!!

Best Doc Holliday ever and his was the most amazing performance. I can’t believe he wasn’t nominated. NONE of the actual nominees came close to equaling his performance.

Is that film kilmer not only did an amazing job with his portrayal of doc Holliday in accuracy he also honored holiday as a real life historical person. His performance was definitely unforgettable in so many ways

I agree with the sentiment, but it blows my mind that in well over a decade of comments, not a single person pointed out that Tombstone wasn't even eligible for the Oscars mentioned. It was released 9 months after Hackman won for Unforgiven. Tommy Lee Jones won Best Supporting Actor in '94 for The Fugitive against Fiennes (Schindler's List), Malkovich (In the Line of Fire), DiCaprio (Gilbert Grape), & Postlethwaite (In the Name of the Father). Best Actor was a murderer's row of Hanks, DDL, Hopkins, Neeson, & Fishburne. That nomination would have gone to Russell anyway. It was and still is extremely rare for 2 Best Actor nominations to come from the same film. Also, a lot of you need to actually watch Unforgiven, because Hackman deserved every inch of that statue. And I'll just ignore the fact that this guy called Al Pacino "forgettable."

As much as I think Gene Hackman was excellent as the bad guy in Unforgiven, Val Kilmer was outstanding as Doc Holliday, and deserved the nomination and Oscar for Best Supporting actor.

I thought that Val Kilmer performance in Tombstone was iconic and memorable even in The Doors. At least give Val Kilmer an Oscar for Tombstone!

Val Kilmer was outstanding as Doc Holliday. It was truly a breathtaking performance—without a doubt, the most moving, memorable performance I have ever seen in my lifetime. Bravo, Bravo.

He definitely should’ve been nominated for his Doc Holliday ( and also his Jim Morrison but that’s another matter ) . For such a versatile perfectionist actor he should’ve been way more recognised for it .

I loved Val’s work but to take the award away from another great -arguably greater actor and performance in Unforgiven - in Gene Hackman is ludicrous. And you said the only worthy performance that year was Jack??? He's amazing, too, but his performance in A Few Good Men was one of his weakest and over the top. Bottom line is there shouldn't be awards for acting; a subjective profession. And if you’ve ever read or listened to Val and Gene’s thoughts on why they were actors, you’d know they would agree. This petition is silly.

Val did one of the best acting jobs I have ever seen. Tombstone was one of my favorite movies.
