The nominees for Best Supporting Actor in 1993 were: Gene Hackman, Jaye Davidson, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, and David Paynor. Gene Hackman won for his role in Unforgiven. On this list, there are some great actors, most notably Jack Nicholson for A Few Good Men. However the rest are forgettable.
Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holliday is beyond iconic, Tombstone was an OK Movie to start with but Val's performance turned the film into a classic. One of the most quotable films of all time, all of which come from Kilmer. It is his singular presence that elevated the film and the other actors, without him I believe the film fails.

By signing this petition you are saying that you want the Academy to recognize Val's performance publicly in the 2013 Academy awards. This will mark the 20th anniversary of Tombstone. This will right the wrong that was done 20 years ago. Once the petition time frame is over it will be sent to the powers that be at the Academy Awards.

The climb to one hundred signatures has been grueling and I am quite exhausted by the lack of movement lately. If you want this correction to happen we need to push past this plateau right now.

I absolutely believe he was screwed out of a Oscar. And I think this should be recirculated. I was just speaking with my husband about it and I believe the Academy should do an honorary Oscar for Val’s portrayal in this role!
Val kilmer’s performance as Doc Holliday is outstanding . His character suffered acute illness and alcoholism and this was portrayed sublimely by Kilmer . Can’t believe 26 years later his performance still moves me .
An injustice? It was scandalous that Val didn't even receive a nomination for his roll in Tombstone. It's one of the best performances I've ever seen. At one point I was starting to think that he was actually ill during the production his performance was that good. Shame on you academy!
He was amazing and embodied the role of a gentleman and doctor, turned outlaw- gambler. The death scene was touching and all the catch phrases memorable. "If you want to play a game for blood, I'm your Huckleberry."
Really unforgettable performance. Reflects poorly on oscars that Mr Kilmer was not nominated. They should fix that. I would equate Val's performance with Joaquin Phoenix in gladiator. Both were excruciatingly good.
Val Kilmer did an amazing job & should have been recognized by the Academy for his portrayal of Doc Holliday.
He upstaged everyone in Tombstone. His best role by far.
