I am a mother of four young boys and am wanting to get a Skate Park built in our township of Orroroo. Unfortunately there is not a lot of activities for young children and teenagers to engage in. A Skate Park would be beneficial for these children as it helps them to keep occupied with something to strive for rather than getting in to trouble or lingering around the main street. It also helps children to stay active, helps them to participate in healthy exercise, helps children to interact with others and make new friends as well as be in a public place where their parents know where they are. There are not a lot of activities and things for children to do in our town, except for the local swimming pool which is only open during the warmer weather, the tennis courts and local playground. I have spoken to numerous children and parents in our town that also believe that a Skate Park would help our local children and give them more activities to engage in such as Bike riding and Skate Boarding which can be done at Skate parks. More and more towns across the country have begun to see the benefit of having a public skate Park as it has contributed to the quality of life in the towns and provided another recreation opportunity for the youth. Below are some of the Benefits of having a Skate park in our community; - it would provide a place for kids to use their time developing, coordinating and improving their skills. - the park would promote positive interaction between skaters/bikers, law enforcement and the general community. - it would give the skaters/bikers their own designated place to ride and spend time with friends. - it would promote physical exercise, mental stimulation and social cooperation. - it would encourage discipline, determination, stress release, physical fitness, self-esteem and a positive attitude. It would be a positive social experience for youth of all ages. - it would also be a recreational activity for the youth, who do not participate in organised sports such as Tennis, Football, etc. I am needing your help, so can you please sign the petition to help me to give something special to the Youth of Orroroo!
