A big store like this does not belong in a small town like Monroe!

Monroe is my home town. The quintessential character of Monroe would be permanently altered by the presence of Wal-Mart. Whenever Wal-Mart enters a community, local business is destroyed. Those jobs which are created, are minimum wage or less.. The majority of positions are part- time without benefits.. The business practices which are detrimental to employees, and the town. are not worth selling the soul of the community. Not to mention the support of sweat shop labor in other countries which make the "low, low prices" possible, or the traffic nightmare which would ensue. I consider Wal-Mart to be "The Evil Empire of Commerce" . Please do not allow them to set up shop in Monroe, Ct.

I am not believe how much p & z is ruining my sweet little home town. Such a quaint town . Now the strip malls and traffic has changed the entire feel of the town. Now adding a Walmart?! Are you kidding me ? This is a town! Not a city. Monroe can not handle the increased traffic . Our police and fire dept. can't handle the additional congestion. The value of the homes will certainly plummet . Sto

All research shows that Walmart will destroy Monroe and its small businesses while contributing nothing to the community and the public footing the bill for underpaid employees not paid a living wage, who will rely on Food Stamps and Medicaid. Shame on Walmart and SHAME ON MONROE for making this short sighted and foolish decision that will have permanent detrimental consequences to our beautiful, historic town!

Either side of the aisle, I will vote for any candidate that opposes the evil empire moving to Monroe. Having just bought a house in town I would have looked elsewhere had I known of this plan.

Having a Walmart will not help the communities and residents. There is so much proof of that from other stores. There are so many stores that have good jobs that are needed in our community. It is foolish not to seek out those companies.

Monroe is too small of a town for Wal-Mart. They need to go too Bridgeport or Trumbull.

I grew up in Monroe and this will harm the beautiful town. it will bring more crime and chaos. I am looking to relocate from Hamden and my ma I thing looking for a town is no big stores. Please do not ruin the small town charm!

Monroe has always been a town with class and a wonderful home town feel, whether you live there forever or for 28 years then move out of state because of family necessity. Monroe will always be our home town where we raised our kids and where they went thru the school system. Wal-Mart is the negative opposite of class. Every one of the stores we've been in were kinky, dirty, and pathetic....whether we've shopped there in Connecticut or in Florida. Even Target is better than Wal-Mart, which doesn't say much. PLEASE keep Walmart out of Monroe. Don't turn Monroe into one of those junky towns
