As tax payers in the Oyster River Cooperative School District we have a right to comment on any of the actions or conduct of school employees, administrators and School Board members. The opportunity to comment on record during a School Board meeting benefits all parties. Not only is it vital for the School Board to know what information on the minds of taxpayers, but it is imperative that the public feel they have a forum to highlight any concerns. We the undersigned petitioners want to maintain the current structure for public comment which allows concerned citizens to express concerns about ANY topic, whether it is on the current School Board agenda or not. We do not believe there should be a form, approval process or any other barrier for allowing the public to express concerns. We would welcome a protocol from the School Board of a recommend sequence for filing a complaint before an issue is taken directly to the School Board.
