Useful to a limited quantity of people. What's the point of paying extra if it doesn't apply to a good portion of students.

Even though I get to Ryerson by TTC I still feel bad that everyone has to pay more just so some of us can save some money. And the misinformation provided by the RSU before the vote was pathetic.

I have no need for a ttc pass as I already pay over 350 dollars in go transit and 50 in gasoline a month with 0 need for a ttc pass

This is total BS for students who don"t use the TTC. Just found this other petition online. Sign both if you feel strongly about it!!! https://www.change.org/p/boardsecretariat-ryerson-ca-requesting-a-revote-for-misleading-ru-pass-referendum

This totally sucks. Make sure you share this with your friends and get them to sign this petition. The late date to challenge the referendum is tomorrow before 5pm. We need more signatures!

GO transit is the only form of transportation I use. I already pay $1000/year for GO. Paying an extra $500+/year for a service that I don’t use is unfair and ridiculous.

They lied to us.

I rarely take the ttc and struggle to pay my tuition as it is. An additional cost for a service I do not use is ridiculous and I do not want to pay it.

The RSU told us we can sell them and also told us that we can opt out and basically lying and bribing us with free food in order to vote yes.

Does not affect me, it is unfair that I am forced to pay more money for something that will not benefit me

I am a GO user who also uses the TTC daily from union to dundas. I pay approximately $2400 a year in GO transit, plus the additional $1 and change it costs to me to use the TTC after or before my GO trip. Because of the RU Pass, I will now be paying more for my transit by approximately $300-$400 depending on my schedule next year for doing the exact same thing I already do. I literally take the TTC daily, and now it will cost me MORE to take the TTC daily because the fact that GO users get a discount was compelelty disregarded. So now my Transit costs will approach $3000. As someone who pays for their own tuition and transit, but does not get any OSAP coverage this is significant. And the fact that I will not pay more, to do exactly the same thing that I was going for cheaper is insane. GO users who use TTC after are getting scammed the most.

This U-pass is so stupid. Wasting money on advertising and food to buy voters. Not only that but instead of people spending on average an extra like $10 a month you are forcing people who never use the ttc to pay an extra $600 per year for basically nothing. I wouldn’t get any use out of this so it’s basically a $600 piece of plastic

Really silly that there is no opt out option. This does not benefit everyone, stop forcing it on everyone.

An opt out option is only fair for the students that will be paying extra for a pass that has no use to them.

I believe this RU-Pass is unethical. The fact that the university does not have an opt out option just shows how money hungry they are and the lack of care they have for their students. Students who DO NOT need this do not want to be paying $584 extra a year. That is literally money being stolen from students. And for what? For others to benefit? They can pay themselves. Just like students pay around $20 a day to commute using the GO bus/train. I commute from Milton .. I spend maybe $6 a week on TTC. In order for myself as an example to break even, I would have to use the TTC 35 times a month. Thats ridiculous. Even people who use the TTC will probably not hit 35 times a month. This is just one example .. out of thousands of students. This is a commuter school. It's great that Ryerson wants to implement this but the opt out option should be non-negotiable. As mentioned before, the university is so money hungry and this is wrong. This will affect many students and it truly is disappointing that the university is doing this. Also, OSAP? Not everyone gets OSAP, even if they do, its not money they want to be spending on the RU-Pass. OSAP is money to be used for classes and textbooks. This pass is a joke and everyone is living in the lie of thinking that it is this amazing pass that will be beneficial in the long run, which is false.

It's dumb. As a person who does actually use TTC as their main form of transportation, it just isn't fair to those who walk or use the GO. People paying 500 to save regular TTC users like $40? Doesn't add up. Include the opt-out option.
