UCU members at the University of Roehampton call upon the Vice-Chancellor and Senior Management Team to rethink their proposals with regard to restructuring and redundancies in the School of Education. Members are concerned that management has not engaged in meaningful consultation and that the timescales being imposed on this exercise are unfair to staff and ultimately will lead to an impoverished student experience. UCU members call upon management to consider genuine alternatives to compulsory redundancies and to engage in meaningful and detailed discussions with the staff side representatives to explore alternative options.
I AM CURRENTLY IN MEETINGS FIGHTING TO ENSURE THAT EVERY SINGLE CONCERN YOU HAVE RAISED IS BROUGHT DIRECTLY TO THE ADMINISTRATION!! THE STORIES I HEAR FROM STAFF SHOW JUST HOW NEGATIVE THESE PROPOSALS ARE AND WE ARE GOING TO KEEP PUSHING FOR GENUINE ALTERNATIVES UNTIL THEY LISTEN!!

THE MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE AND SENIOR MANAGEMENT CANNOT IGNORE THIS GROUND SWELL OF SUPPORT ANY LONGER!! IT IS BEYOND CLEAR THAT WE DEMAND A GENUINE RECONSIDERATION OF THESE DEVASTATING REDUNDANCY PLANS!! LET US KEEP THIS TREMENDOUS ENERGY ROLLING FORWARD!

Used to be a great place to work but management is ruining the culture. Hope they come to their senses and listen to the union.

This is a massive mistake. The staff at Roehampton deserve way better than this treatment after all the hard work they put in.

SO RIDICULOUS. Why are they rushing this through over the summer?? Stop the redundancies now.

Thanks Pat I agree - Its a shame that Gove et al are creating havoc with teacher education. We all hope that UR management will genuinely consider alternative options to compulsory redundancies.

It would be very sad if the university were to gain a reputation as a 'bad' employer when for many years it stood out as fair and reasonable.
