Opposition to proposed Casino

I don't think bringing a casino in to Ridgecrest to rip off it's citizens is ever a good idea. Thank you.

I don't like the idea that a sovereign nation will be in the middle of our city and if things go to crap. That land will be tied up for years. We don't lose the business park.

Possibly in a less central location closer to 395 or 14. Not in the middle of town or next the base.

I do not feel it is in the best interest for Ridgecrest or for the beleaguered Timbisha tribe to build a casino at this time. With the true Timbisha tribal members being outnumbered by non-Timbisha members & forcibly taken over, including their tribal government, gives me pause as to why this take-over occurred and why this casino project at this time? Who from the tribe will truly benefit from it, who will run it as it is a ways from their home, etc. Too many unanswered questions, there. I also don't believe we are that hard up for entertainment that we need a casino where the hard earned money of working folks nor the money paid out for welfare recipients should be wasted there. You need entertainment ..... look outside your door at all the glorious outdoor activities available. Do something as a family: go hiking, either in the desert or mountains; mountain biking; take up photography; learn about all the history that surrounds you; go rock climbing; motorcycling; 4-wheeling; rock hounding; etc. We live in a mecca for outdoor entertaiment, which is way healthier for us rather than worrying about gambling away your hard-earned money.

BLUF: the pro-supporters hit the nail on the head – let Ridgecrest grow! A casino is not the answer and I'm proud to oppose the proposed Casino! The key reasons NOT to move forward with the casino: location, location, location. It sure would be tempting to blow off some steam right after work, eh? (The developer is no dummy.) A lot of local residents will lose to make up ~66% of the casino’s income. I’d like to close by pointing something out to anyone who somehow believes that “morals = religion.” The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines moral as, “of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior.” Criminal and illegal misconduct are generally a result of the lack of morals. Everyone who has stated in their comments that we should not consider morals in this decision is ignorant (“lacking knowledge or information”). I don't think enough has been considered about the fallout. Drug trafficking, human trafficking , prostitution. It's real. It happens a lot in our city already. If you're in your homes at 8pm you won't see it but if you're out after 11 it going on.

Have they made a realistic business case or is this going to be like other business that come in & then leave an empty building. Given our limited natural resources, has anyone really looked at the burden with the later phase of a hotel, with IWV water restrictions.

Please do not bring a casino to our town.

Too Close to the base where Young Patriots who live in housing or barracks May Dwindle their Hard Earned paycheck on Gambling and or Alcohol Not Good!! What are they thinking??!

I strongly oppose a casino in Ridgecrest, CA.

I am opposing the casino to be built in Ridgecrest.

A) The majority of the proposed income for that casino will probably come from locals. That's money that will not be spent at local businesses and stay in our community. B) there is no way of anticipating how many of our locals could have or develop a gambling addiction. Loss to bank accounts, repossessions, and foreclosures are not inconceivable.

Not only am I highly uncomfortable with the location chosen, the cons significantly outweigh any supposed pro to this proposal. Our community should be focusing on family friendly growth. Growth that will benefit us in the long run, growth that will continue to appeal to future D.O.D. employees and their family. Not to mention, 66% of the casino revenue is projected from locals...just a big fat money pit.

This is such a bad idea for so many reasons, many of which have already been stated.

I don't think it would be good for our valley. We close the jail & then build a casino. Seems a little out of order.

I love Ridgecrest so much! It is my hope that my family and future generations to come will live in city well rooted in integrity, surrounded with safety and with hopes for a greater future. I say NO to the proposed casino. There are other means to gain revenue for our city. Not willing to give it all up for a bowl of soup.

I don't think this will increase crime. It will also not increase tourism or local business efforts. It will cannibalize our local economy and take money out of the community.

The proposed Casion makes no economic sense for Ridgecrest. The financial and moral cost is too high for the city to benefit from this proposal.
