Petition to the OGSD Board of Trustees to REJECT Offers for Development/Rezoning of Glider School Property

Keep the neighborhood density the same.

We were in Lahaina, Maui during the fires in August. When I came home, I was unable to relax knowing what had occurred in Maui and realizing that when there is a fire on the hills here, which are about 1/4 mile from the Glider property and my home, being able to evacuate will be difficult. If 80 additional homes are built between my house and the nearest large street, we will be trapped. It is irresponsible to consider adding more homes to an area with no access to a major street. Many of the streets in Lahaina were similar to, or even wider than the streets in this neighborhood and the destruction there is overwhelming. Don't set this area up for a similar fate.

Vote NO on the rezoning application for dense housing.

What other options are there?

Former student, community resident and very sad regarding this development to sell the property we all use

Getting rid of this school is a giant mistake, I’ve been going there for years after school hours to get outside and get some time with the Dogs, and now they want to build up apartments??? Nonsense

How the hell did we have a decreased need for schools and an increased need for housing? And how would an increase in housing not turn back into an increased need for schools? Quit the trend of packing people to create high density and high crime neighborhoods with poorly planned money and property grabs.

The site is better used as a community public park & space and/or leased for educational purposes. Building high density housing without planning for traffic on Snell in close proximity to Santa Teresa High School seems like a bad idea.

Dont sale the school

The location is already packed with single family homes. It is energetic and compact. It would not rezone the place to build multi units, which will cause more congestion and confusion.

Save the school. Keep schools open!

Please keep the property for education purpose! Lease the property to generate the revenue. Selling property will permanently close the possibility of any future school site. Community is drastically changing around our area and I see in coming 2-3 years we will be in need of another school. I see in last 2 years we have seen 5 little kids are born. Where there kids are going to go? Please wait for free more years and you will be happy that you could open another school for our neighborhood kids!

We want our school back. Don't sell to developers. There can be a better use for our community.

I already signed the paper petition. I am strongly opposed to the selling of the Glider School property. It would be detrimental to the neighborhood.

oppose use of glider property for even more density housing . location not able to support traffic flow. high density housing should be built on main streets for acmes and traffic flow not deep into housing track

I agree with the description on the petition and oppose this sudden sale of glider elementary without the consent of home owners in the neighborhood.

This will create dangerous traffic conditions on Snell, and particularly at Santa Teresa High School during peak commute hours when it is already hazardous as kids cross streets and parents drop off kids -- now you want to add hundreds of more cars to already limited capacity streets?? How about the impact on electrical and sewage?? If you want more housing at Glider, keep it within the scope of single family homes.

Building more houses would mean more kids with a school they would need to go to.

We do not need more dense housing in this area. The petition reasoning says it perfectly. We need transparency and housing proposals that fit with the existing neighborhood layout.
