Petition to the OGSD Board of Trustees to REJECT Offers for Development/Rezoning of Glider School Property

Keep our parks and open spaces. Stop over crowding our streets and neighborhoods. Reopen the school a d reduce class sizes.

More housing in little space with surrounding residents already struggling with water shortages, power blackouts, less schools , parks & recreation. Bringing more congestion to area amidst a global pandemic seems to be counter intuitive. If all those in favor of this project to pass would volunteer their own neighborhood for this deal instead, I might consider slightly listening to their generic sales pitch. I hope the Glider neighborhood stands strong together and fight these business suits who have not a ounce of care for the safety and lively hood of our community. Glider strong (home of the Grizzlies) will never back down to protect our soil of deep roots.

Convert this to an outdoor activity area for kids and families. As one mentioned, we do not have enough rec area for kids apart from kids. Every playground we have is already crowded. We are not asking for separate playground for each family but dont want to see over loaded kids onto the structures.

This area needs parks not housing. There is already a shortage of water and roads.

There is a very well known homeless activist lady that lives close to Glider school and she was very pro-active and involved in supporting the tiny homes that were built in D2 which is miles away from this location. Now that this affordable housing project is right in her backyard, she is organizing neighbors to oppose it so tables have turned. Pure hypocrisy. I truly hope this property gets sold to build affordable housing. Four, five stories of affordable apartments with some for previously homeless individuals even better. Karma, my friend, karma...

Do not sell the property to build dense multi-family housing.

We have recently moved into this beautiful neighborhood. We frequent the playgrounds at Glider. We decided to settle in this neighborhood because it was so residential, peaceful and quiet. Had we known that a housing project of this magnitude would be undertaken, which might lead to years of traffic congestion, environmental concerns and irreversibly affect the essence and allure of this charming locality, we might have re-evaluated our choice. I sincerely hope sanity prevails here and the community gets a firm say about their own future.

I have lived in this peaceful and beautiful neighborhood for 20 years. Our neighborhood is not appropriate or setup for densely packed housing. My three kids and the other neighborhood kids often go to Glider to play. Kids and families need open areas to play. There are not many parks in our adjacent neighborhoods. San Jose has enough strip malls and densely packed housing. The City of San Jose cannot be expected to house every person or family that wants to live here at the expense of the current residents well being. There are other adjacent cities that people can live in that have plenty of affordable and nice housing.

Save Glider! No more development on a peaceful neighborhood.

I live nearby to Glider. I think this will have major traffic impact in the area. I have no problem zoning for additional single family homes that resemble surrounding home style and size, but also feel it's important for the City to maintain enough parks and playgrounds for children.

Too much homes already the community needs park that the citizens can have healthy well being by having a park in the neighborhood with exercise tools.

I grew up at Glider elementary school, graduated there around 2007. I’d appreciate if this land still be used for educational purposes only. If this land is used for public housing, or apartment complexes, many new problems could arise; unforeseen crime could skyrocket in South San Jose if this is not handled correctly.

Please leave this school alone and stop building crappy high density housing. No one wants this

We need to encourage young families to move into the area and one of the best ways is to have schooling options nearby. Work to reopen Glider should be the priority, not build more housing.

I live nearby and this would negatively impact the local community. We have enough high density housing off Cottle and 85 already for people in need.

Former student! Keep the school drop the apartments

Stop overcrowding the area

Can we save the school, preserve park space. These should be our priorities.

Please do this rare open property in San Jose to be taken over by apartments. It is a poor use for the land.
