As a student, access to affordable off campus housing is very important to my ability to continue my education. A limit on the number of people who can live in an apartment would inevitably raise student housing prices.

For a town that is being brought back to life by this university, this is a shame to read. Stop targeting students. the debt we go though is absurd already. If the any persons through the university voting, Do your part. protect your students, because no matter how much i worked i still wouldnt beable to afford housing let alone my education. Do your job.

This bill villainizes students and young professionals who choose to live in shared housing. Our housing is not dormitories. We are not living in slums paying rent to slum lords. We are your neighbors. We smile and wave when we get in our cars in the mornings, when we walk our dogs past your houses. We frequent local businesses. Many of us settle in Lowell long after our degrees have been framed and hung. Many students and young people who could be made homeless by this bill would in a few years buy houses, vote here, become an even greater part of Lowell’s diverse community. This bill does not take into consideration the impacts this would have on the lives of thousands of lowell’s residents, nor the challenges associated with the increase in parking which will be required as students are forced into more neighborhoods of Lowell from which they must drive to campus. Not right for students. Not right for the growing population of young professionals. Not right for landlords. Not right for local businesses. Not right for Lowell.

Off campus housing is how most students can even afford school. You will loose all of these students and they will transfer to a more AFFORDABLE school far away from Lowell.
