This should be a violation to our rights as independent students and citizens of Lowell. I should be able to live where ever I choose, with whoever I choose.

I'm the hardwood floor contractor. We do a lot hard wood floor for student housing in Lowell. If student can't renting together then I loser a lot of my work.

i lived in lowell all my life change is good for taxes for the city and i work in lowell helps with the jobs for us and i see a sharp decline for us workers with no permits given bottonline less work for you and me

ms quills; I have lived in this city for over 40 yrs as an adult. My work is in this city. I know a ton of people in this neighborhood. And it is just WRONG to imply that the neighbors are in any big way NEEDING these student "boarders" to make their expenses. Most of these "boarders " are renting from one of the signatories of this petition and probably the biggest landlord in this city with over a suspected 3000 BEDROOMS rented! Dies that sound like a little ole lady trying to pay her taxes to you?????

It’s a college town... a lot of homeowners depend on these students to help keep their homes and pay their mortgages! They can’t change this!

Andy: These 3 (not 2) person limits WERE fought in the Courts: And they, the greedy landlords trying to skirt zoning and fire safety laws, LOST!!! And they'll lose again here after they waste thousands on attorneys fees!!!

sndy kaknes and other mis informed masses: you have been fed a lie or lies by the rich landlord petitioners: the MGL, not Lowell law, but State law reads that there is only a limit of 3(three) unrelated individuals allowed BFORE these greedy landlords have to meet "Boarding House" codes which include expensive sprinklers and insurance requirements. Do you want to encourage these greedy bast__ds and then have a serious fire cost somebody (s) their life???
This 3 person law is just being enforced to protect lives but this greedy landlord group is afraid they will have to spend thousands for new sprinklers!!!

When I went to Umass Amherst I lived in a large Colonial 6 bedroom house. At times we had 6-8 students living together, and at other times less. To put a law in place that limits housing to no more than 2 students in the same apartment seems ridiculous, and is actually discriminatory in nature. Why don't they change the wording to no more than 2 people can live together in the same apartment? I would hope that this law would be challenged and fought in the courts.

I am very strongly IN FAVOR of this limitation on greedy 1% type landlords who come into OUR neighborhoods and totally ignore our Lowell Zoning and State Health codes by taking advantage of young students. It is a fact that a certain 2 family with blue siding near the riverside lot has 13 Bedrooms and likely brings in almost $7000 per MONTH in student rents!!! For a 'legal' 2 family with 13 bedrooms! Come to City Hall and show support for your neighborhoods near UMass and stop these 1 percenter's from taking advantage of students and the neighborhood!!!

This is just wrong and not thought out Mass State Sanitary Code
A bedroom is required to be at least 70 sq ft have heat and two outlets a ceiling light or a switched outlet allowed 1 bed with up to 2 people sleeping in it
If a room is over 120 sq ft you can have 2 beds and up to 4 people in that room
So a a 2 bedroom both 70 sq ft can have 2 beds total and 2 couples 4 people or if a 2 bedroom has 1 bedroom 70 sq ft and 1 bedroom 120 sq ft that apt legally can have 3 beds and up 2 six people

This is unfair. Regardless if we are students, we are adults that pay rent to live. Many of us that cannot afford to live on campus.
