I am signing this petition because I am opposed to the rezoning of 5516 Kentucky Ave. I have heard the applicant's reasons for this request and I strongly disagree with every one he has presented. 

The applicant has cited the 2009 community plan to support his request but many things have changed in this area since that plan was completed. The most relevant is the increase of residential housing. Lot sizes have been decreased as two homes are built where one used to be. This continued increase in density reinforces two points; this neighborhood has more than enough residential zoning and I would choose, contrary to the community plan, to preserve this neighborhood commercial zoning to serve as walkable amenities for a growing population. Since 5516 Kentucky Ave is part of a larger CN zoned area. I believe this rezoning request will break up these parcels and make them less desirable for future neighborhood-friendly commercial development. A parcel of 3 CN zoned double lots with 160+ feet of frontage is more desirable than a small 50 foot commercial lot. 

I urge you to consider the bigger picture for these CN zoned parcels, not just one parcel, because in the long run this rezoning would be a hindrance for a better and more comprehensive redevelopment of our neighborhood.
