We oppose the rezoning of 2121 W Erie to RS4.5 and the proposed design of the new building as described on October 22, 2019. We are concerned with the building's height, which is considerably higher than any other building on the south side of the block (and almost all on the north side), and the building's density, which will be a 3 flat on a narrow, single lot. Both of these features are without precedent on the south side of this blockstreet and very unusual elsewhere on Erie Street and surrounding areas.

Neighbor at 2145 W. Erie. With respect and understand of the owners, My wife Sheila (signed above) and I both are against the rezoning for several reasons. At the heart of the issue is that rezoning to accommodate the individual property flies in the face of the purpose of zoning. If the block was to be built with larger buildings, then the area would have been zoned RS4.5. There are other entire neighborhoods like that. This is not one of those. We feel maintaining the zoning at current levels is the appropriate action. The proposed building would also be considerably larger than all surrounding homes. Not just height, but also front setback reduced to 8 ft. and the decking on back all the way to the carport (not enough room for a full garage.
