This is just shocking to hear. The school will actually install food vending machines, which isn't really nutrious Because they are just packaged food. But back to the point , a petition has to be made so that the school will actually listen to us and know our opinions. As many have mentioned before , the school canteen is NOT big enough to let 1000+ students fit . I'm very sure of that . And it's not fair for the students that have ssp and only have 30mins to eat , wait till they get their food they are probably left with 5 mins to eat ?! And even if they have left with 5 mins will there be seats ? Nope. Please reconsider this dcom

We do hope the school realise this is not a rebellion but a feedback. Poor feedback means there's something unrealistic about your rules. Please stop labeling this as "rebelling" just because we are teenagers, we do not want to stir up any hussle at all. The school has always treated us as children and people of insignificance but we are not 10 or 5, when something gets out of hand, we just want to give feedbacks. Based on how the school gave 2 detentions for the kid who started a petition, I am afraid that the school will not see lightly upon this. But please be considerate and don't treat us as "children" or "rebelling teenagers"

First of all, our school always dishes out punishments that reduces our eating time. When we are late for assembly, noisy, or simply one person misbehaving can lead to whole cohort staying back during recess. Giving us insufficient time to eat properly. With this additional rule, plus the issue of insufficient time and space to eat, we simply cannot enjoy our lunch. Do be reminded some of us stay from 6 in the morning to 6 at night, 12 HOURS, with no satisfying food and free time to move around. We will literally be studying 12 hours non stop without proper relaxing time.

Dearest principle, vice principles , discipline comity, teachers , beloved concerned Secondary 1 parents and my fellow Zhonghuarians. By now this petition has gone viral with students voicing out our honest opinions and letting our voice be heard. Yes we may appear to be condemning this great idea but ZHSS let me ask you, didn't you see this coming right from the start? What exactly were you gunning at when you enforced this rule? Did you expect positive responses? Do you simply expect us to comply? This term alone the school standard has deteriorated faster than the food in the canteen runs out. Scoldings every other day, punishing cohorts during recess for being "late" don't you see the consequences of your actions? Do you not know of any other approach? What's the point of regulation when all you're getting in return is a more defiant student population? This is my question to you ZhongHua, do you genuinely think even for a split second that we the students are contented with our choice of this school? Do you think we are proud to be Zhonghuarians? Do you think we feel that we all have place in this school, that we are all being cared and looked after? Ask around, conduct your research, i can guarantee you that we as students see ZhongHua as nothing but a military camp, a prison where right is never being done, where reputation is put well above the concern of the well being of students. Is this what you really want us to feel after our 4 year stay? To leave the school the same, no , even worse than we came in? What have you ever done for you students? instill a strong sense of discipline and responsibility ? HAHAHA what a joke we're all gonna leave this school with nothing but memories of how we had to comply to your whims and fancies.

Student of this school here. I will be brutally honest, our school is not the biggest school out there. We will be cramped in the canteen and as you know, solids cannot be compressed and we will all feel extremely uncomfortable. Please consider abolishing this rule. Thank you.

not allowing to let us go out for lunch ? wow this is a secondary school not primary school. you are treating us like we are criminals behind bars without freedom. please think for your students' feelings before setting this new rule. how will this affect vegetarians ? and the canteen's long queues? expect us to wait for that long to get a few mouthful of food? don't treat us like primary school kids in our teenage lives. I hope you can reconsider about this again. thank you very much.

Hello, this is an ex-student here. As seen from the responses here, the students are really unhappy with the implementation of this new rule. Speaking from my own experience, the canteen usually runs out of food in the afternoon and for the sec 4s who are released later, there is literally nothing left to eat. Also, with 30 mins and 4 cohorts in the canteen, firstly there definitely would not have enough seats for everyone and the queues would be really long. As such, many students would rather forfeit their lunch. Perhaps a better way to solve this would be to communicate to the students about the school's concerns. I believe they are able to make the right judgement about where to eat so that they wont be late for lessons. We've been allowed to leave school for lunch for many years and till now, nothing has happened so i hope that the school can have faith in the students and reconsider this decision. And the kids here, dont use vulgarities and be mature about what you say if you really want the school to sincerely consider all yout opinions. thank you!!

zh students are already old enough to know what they should do and what they shouldn't so the school should trust that the students won't do anything to jeopardize their safety. the restrictions of not letting them exit school merely for lunch is just going to make them repel school and not like school anymore because it feels like a jail. moreover by implementing this rule, students can't return to school to retrieve their items if they accidentally left them in the school compound. zhss please re-evaluate this.

I don't think it is necessary for it. As secondary students, we should and be able to take care of ourselves. Some of us have special diets, such as being vegetarian etc, but the school does not have anything to sell to the people who have special diets, and we have no choice but to go nex and have lunch.

Dear mr ron low, Ik dat u dont want us to go outside to eat cos of our safety and all but hor cos of the long queues at almost every stall and the time wasted queuing up will affect us. This is because we have ssp and ccas and sometimes cos the teacher end our lessons late we don't usually have enough time to eat. We go out and eat so dat we can safe time quicker so even though we are a little late for ssp, we at least ate something. Some of us have gastric problems(me) so we cannot tahan the long queue cos very painful ma.忍不住了.xD I like the idea of having more food and some food vending machines but what if they also have no use to the rest as there might be long queues too as students like queuing up for a stall dat is new. Safety is important but a person's health is too! hope dat u will see dis and reconsider ur mind:D. Regards, Cheryl choo

what you should be doing in teaching students how to be responsible for their own learning and behavior and not simply just stop them from leaving the school. Shouldn't the school be teaching them how to use their rods to fish correctly instead of just taking away their rods and stop then from fishing completely?

this rule is hilarious. sch said they will ask the vendors to prepare more food and there will be a food vending machine. K. have u spare a thought for the vendors? the students? with this rule implemented the vendors now have to prepare more food, standing even longer serving over 1K students. wat about them? do u think its fair to have this rule? no. and for the students, not all students can go out everyday before their ccas or watever fr lunch. pls u can go to the canteen and see, there are still alot of students queuing fr food in the canteen esp uppe sec students as most have ssp almost everyday. so is it fair fr upper sec students to not go out fr lunch when they have one of the rare times when they can go out and have a good lunch? secondly, students that go to the canteen maybe a few mins later might not be able to get food. this happened to me twice. i was queuing and halfway the vendor told us that there is no more food and i have to requeue at other stall which result in me late fr ssp. with this rule inplemented, i think many students will not choose to eat anymore as tey know that there will be a it will affect our health is this wat u wan ZHSS? thirdly, wat abt those students that have ssp straight after sch (bcos the class agreed to so that we can have an hour of lunch before cca) i can assure u once we finished ssp and go down to the canteen, there will not be any food left. thn we will go outside fr lunch. with this rule implemented wat r we gonna do? starve fr the rest of the day? u can say 'theres food vending machine' so? i tot ZHSS removed fried food bcos they wan us to be healthy? so u think food from vending machine is healthy? wat even. pls zhss i know y'all have a well intention but PLS THINK BEFORE U SET A RULE.

Students should be allowed to go out of school for lunch as they might have a long break before their CCA starts or when they have extra classes. It is impossible to keep the whole school in a canteen for lunch.

The school needs to listen to others' opinions on the matter before rashly deciding on what to do. If the students here can think about what would happen in the future with this rule around, why can't the school? Its utterly absurd that the school takes discipline to a whole new level, bringing in the "one for all, all for one" attitude. Sec2 girl says "walao" and nobody wants to admit, make everyone stay back until she admits. Thats fine, but also, making every sec3 girl stay back just because some people did not read is UTTERLY absurd, even though MOST of them did not do wrong. We are not here for you to recreate another Japanese Occupation, we want education to be effective, for that to happen students need to be focused, for them to be focused after 6 hours of school is impossible. Back to the point, as many students already mentioned, 1000 students cannot possibly fit into 1 canteen, especially with such a small canteen like Zhonghua's. Further more, students may put their bags on the benches, leaving less sitting space for students. AND not all tables have 2 benches to them, some of them disappeared for some reason. Also, if you want to implement this "one for all, all for one" attitude, the teachers should not be an exception to this rule. Now, your reasons for this rule to be implemented are maybe because of parents' complaints, students being late for SSP or you want us to save money. Now, you cannot implement this rule to the entire cohort just because some parents complain, especially the Upper Sec students, they have to cope with more things than the lower sec students and they definitely have more stress. Do we give detentions to the whole cohort because 1 person arrived late? NO. Absolutely not. Its his/her problem that he/she is late, not ours. Similarly, just because of a few protective parents, you removed the privilege of the entire school. You know what's that like, it's like saying NAPFA should be removed just because some students failed. I re
