Oppose the Expansion of the Hoffay Mine in Sand Lake NY

I do not approve I’ve mining so close to residential areas.

Mines are ruining the peace, quiet and fresh air this town has to offer. If we continue down this road, it will soon be one big quarry with no residents.

It is too close to a residential area.

Rensselaer County has a long history of lax compliance with regulations on mining. More attention must be paid to the long term impact on the environment and tax payers who live nearby.

This mine is already too large for the community in which it sits. No more.

Enough with mining expansion in the Town of Sand Lake. We have two large and one small mining operations right in the center of our Town. If expansion is allowed to continue, the Town will be nothing but a big ugly whole in the ground! The truck traffic, the noise, the dust! Enough is enough!

This use is not compatible with the neighborhood and must be denied by DEC and any other government entity involved. It's time for officials at every level to do what's right, proper and fair by citizens, and not make an excuse to dodge responsibility.

How is it that in 2020, West Sand Lake & Averill Park continue to think it's appropriate to allow more and more mines? It's ridiculous and irresponsible to the community at large.

Enough with the ridiculous number of trucks causing traffic problems, noise, and pollution in our pretty little town.

My husband and I are strongly Against anymore mining in this area!!! Environmental and human impact should always be considered first!!!!

An environmental impact statement and proper feedback form the surrounding neighborhoods should be allowed for, and an extension should be planned in light of current events and social distancing due to COVID-19.

We have enough gravel mines in this town(Sand Lake,NY). We don’t need bigger ones!

We strongly oppose this proposal. We live at 66 Valley Drive in West Sand Lake. Already the noise and air pollution from the mine is a detriment; we have also had to have our well fracked because the water table has dropped. Clean air and water are necessities of life and they would be threatened by expansion of the mine.

Trying to take advantage of the fact that people are focused on COVID-19 and sneaking this through without a proper review is sickening. Clean air should be the priority, not adding to the pockets of someone who's business isn't suffering.
