Oppose the conversion of 1140 W Wilson Ave for Cornerstone's expansion

I went to the open meeting via Zoom. And even though I was skeptical, I felt better. Now, I've learned the things that I was concerned about, are real. Feel a little bamboozled by the open meeting, honestly. So, I'm back to "no." again.

There’s already an abundance of shelters in this ward. Let’s try to spread the shelters out so that folks all over the city have a place to stay

If realized, this proposal will do harm to a number of small and locally-owned neighboring businesses.

Wilson has been on the uprise. Making leaps forward and still has to battle violence, homeless and drugs daily. We already historically know how this will trend. We should continue to utilize any funding towards existing community and safety along with other outreach type resources including mental health, consistent presence of police, especially around the Wilson redline, encouraging businesses to come to the area... Not deter growth.

Displacing 40 residents to put a shelter in an area already served by shelters is not a good use of space. TIF funds are intended for improving blighted areas, how does this improve a building that was already recently renovated and fully occupied?

I'm opposed to this plan. Absolutely ridiculous. We need to have discussions about this and address the concerns of the businesses and people in Uptown.

A congregate shelter sharing space with businesses (especially a bar) is just a bad idea- especially for those in the shelter who are potentially recovering from alcoholism or substance abuse.

I oppose Angela Clay’s proposition to turn this building into a shelter. Uptown does not need anymore.

Increasing the number of transitional shelters across Chicago is an important endeavor. However these shelters should be spread proportionally across wards. The 46th ward already has a large number of these shelters.

I think we should not concentrate shelters in one area

With the Heartland Alliance Housing at the north end of the block and Mercy Housing within a half mile, there is not a need for additional housing for unhoused men in this area. There is a need for housing throughout the city of Chicago and it should be more evenly dispersed.

I'm a resident of the 46th Ward, a voting constituent, and supporter of both the homeless and of businesses. I'm not opposed to shelters in Uptown (though other wards are well behind), but I don't understand locating them on a main street here - it seems counterproductive and short sighted for all the reasons in the petition. Please reconsider this location and use of TIF.

Life safety first make sprinkler’s required for this project given the risk to so many proposed at this location. The risk and density require revisiting sprinkler codes in Chicago.

Uptown is facing exponential displaced population that should be evenly distributed through all neighborhoods. Our communities are barely able to support it as it is today. We need to redistribute stabilization housing throughout.

The city needs more supportive housing, but not in concentrated supporive housing areas like Uptown. Plus, the TIF funds are for encouraging development in blighted areas. This use threatens to further blight this fragile retail strip, not do anything to help foster healthy retail development. It's a no from me
