there’s a dress code for a reason. school is a place to learn, not a place to dress like a slut. i understand some rules are ridiculous such as the “no shoulders” rule. but other than that, cover your ass and cover your boobs. and stop making it a controversial subject feminists :) it’s not a sexist target.

I got dress coded for a skirt that was the APPROVED length but because there was a slit that came up about and inch from the hem I was sent home and not even aloud to walk inside. I missed my first period class because I live so far away. LOVE the fact that my skirt length came before business management

it makes me sad how these poor innocent teenage boys who just are trying to focus on their education are constantly targeted by these devilish classless young girls who are wearing tank tops to distract them!:(((( girls should be much more respectful to these poor boys and wear turtle necks and long skirts because these brave boys are just trying their hardest to focus:(

I 100% agree that the dress code is ridiculous and sexist. Thanks for starting this petition!

PARENTS WITH SONS. Start teaching your boys to not look at women’s bodies as object for them to use for their disgusting needs. And you know what if your boys are getting distracted then that’s their problem not ours. It is a travesty that the girls of Farmington high school are being shamed for the outfits they feel comfortable and confident in. It is so sad and unreal that The adults of the school are personally calling us out of our learning time to send us home or to wait for a change of clothes. I’m so disappointed in what this school has come to. Stripping us of our self expression, freedom and happiness. Sad.

Not being sent home for “too much cleavage” for a freaking V-neck shirt. This is not a direct diss on the cheerleader/runners/volleyball/dance. But can we look at what they are wearing for their SCHOOL TEAM OUTFITS that’s okay but we’re sending girls home for too high up rips, too short of skirts and shorts etc? Times have changed... we aren’t all dressing like nuns now and wearing like 50 layers of clothing like people were back then, KEEP UP.

This dress code is unjust and biased. It needs to be abolished as soon as possible.

I live somewhere else but I agree with this, my school has no dress code, but I understand the point of having one. People express themselves through many ways, especially clothing. So yes it should be appropriate but not to that extent. Making kids/usually young women insecure about there bodies causes mental health issues, insecurity issues etc. It would be amazing if you made the code less intense and strict, it would help students mental health, focus in school, and growth, and more. Anyways please consider this proposal.

The district claims that dress codes reduce violence in schools. Dress codes contribute to rape culture and instead of reducing violence they directly contribute to violence, especially violence against women.

Sending girls home for dressing in a way that "distracts boys" is sending a message that a boy's education is more important than a girl's. Dress codes that are currently in place at Farmington High School and other high schools also tell girls that they are to blame for a boy's inappropriate thoughts and actions. That is part of rape culture and it needs to end now.
