​Petition Opposing the ATX City Council Giving Away $278 Million in Our Taxes to Wealthy Developers

Many cities have been giving tax breaks to developers for years. Then saying that the money will be repaid with jobs and visitors money. Makes some sense but the City of Austin doesn't have to do this anymore!

Corporations get enough tax breaks and don’t need our taxpayers money thank you!

No more subsidies and a moratorium on foreign buyers of our housing stock!!! NOW!!!!

opposing ATX City Council's rise in property taxes to develop land when we need fire hydrants and EMS service and more funding in our parks and recreation, libraries, police and hospitals.

We need affordable housing not more luxury condos!

I am tired of my high property taxes. You are killing the middle and lower classes with these rates.

Don't finance private developers

I understand the need for land and business space. Giving taxpayer funding that supports one type of private business to allow those businesses more wealth is clearly not what our founders intended. The ability to own a private business in Texas and across the United States is a great privilege. This privilege is rooted in the concept that successful business should be able to grow without undue government restriction AND on their own merit. The privilege was never meant to pave the way for private business to have free access to taxpayer funding under any circumstances.

Stop stealing our money!!!!!!

Guess we know who the mayor and city council really work for—It’s definitely not the people in Austin they are suppose to represent. Just another of many DISAPPOINTMENTS!

I can't get two speed bumps on Ainsworth st. .to slow dowm speeders/ cut thru strret...but they'll keep spending money on UNUSED BIKE LANES..WHO is in charge? Developers i guess. Soencer cronk is useless..someone supposedly in charge Do their damn job for the good of the whole!

The City of Austin must dissolve its relationships with elite developers and prioritize affordable housing and ecological preservation for future generations! The people who comprise the Council must be vigilant and empathic for strategic decision-making on behalf of economic diversity and ecological protection. Tax dollars should not be given away so carelessly. Remember, this is occupied Tonkawa lands - a sacred place where the Iroquois Confederacy met annually at the springs, on behalf of peace and community spirit.

This expensive city needs better schools, roads, public transportation, etc. It definitely doesn't need to be giving my money to private developers.

Developers make a fortune, and should be responsible for the major costs. Austin needs to take care of housing for average residents, not luxury for a few.

Vigilance and veracity.

We can't afford a new Austin home after living here 22 years due to the TAX implications. Please stop the bleed.
